6 Cd Changer ?

Featured Replies

I see on this page in autotrader

http://www.autotrader.co.uk/new-cars/derivative/42069

in "Entertainment" it says :

Radio/6 CD changer + MP3 Facility Standard

does that mean that every Octavia elegance has a 6 CD changer

if so, where is it located ??

To be honest, this would be a total waste of space for me. I wouldnt even use this feature. I threw out all my cd's :)

Usually in the boot, on the left. Sometimes behind a panel (depending on how tight Skoda were being at the time)

i've got mine loaded with a 'backup' of favourite CDs, just in case I've left the MP3-disc in the other car, house or office etc.

Oh, and yes 6 disc auto-changer is standard Elegance kit.

Or if the car has a Bolero (end of 2009 onwards i think) the 6 CD changer is the Bolero itself

thanks for replies. I thought CD's were a thing of the past : )

Thats definitely something I would not want in a car

be better if they had bluetooth as standard as opposed to a 6 cd changer IMHO

Id be looking at buying a 2010/2011 elegance model which has Bolero I think

Why not go the whole hog and get Columbus. If I recall they come with 30gig harddisk for nav and MP3. If you're not worried about nav......more space for MP3 ;)

Bolero can read SDHD cards, certainly up to 16Gb and, IIRC 32Gb.

If you are not worried about satnav and your new car comes with Bolero then I don't see the need to have Columbus at extra cost.

Unless there is improved sound etc ?

I use CDs in my Bolero as they are so cheap to make.

Its the only place I really listen to music as I drive around all day but I mainly have the radio on.

12 albums per CD and 6 CD in the unit so 72 ish albums the more on an SD card,

Plenty for me and the blank discs cost around 12p each.

Why bother with an ipod.

you see the problem is, I will be buying 2nd hand so wont have this option of choosing what unit I want

I dont care about Sat Nav so thats not an issue

So you have a Bolero unit, what year is your car and where is the CD changer physically located  ?

I didn't realise it would read all 6 as MP3. Sounds interesting. Do you still have an AUX input?

Yes I supose 32Gig SD card would make the Columbus redundant. I withdraw the suggestion.

Bolero's auto-changer is internal, so it's all in the head-unit. Does sound like the choice to have......hmmm, am thinking retrofit for mine now ;)

  • 8 years later...

I have just brought the Octavia Elegance, I have two issues with the CD player, 1 a disk is stuck in the player, 2 I cant find the unit that houses the other CD player for the remaining 5 any advice please.

Editted, forget the following, it relates to the MK1 Octavia.

Boot LH side behind removeable panel.

Slide cover to one side then press button (yellow?) to release disc carrier.

Pretty sure a 2012 Octavia will have a Bolero with an in-built CD changer rather than a boot mounted version?

If so, you might need to take the radio out and apart to release the stuck CD?

Thanks @lngers2k very helpful topics. 1st option try battery disconnect I think as its a simple option. The car has some simple warranty from car shop l, I don't know if they cover this though, but Im loathe to take it apart before speaking to them if battery method doesn't work. I at least have something to go on though.
