Fold flat front passenger seat aka load through front backrest

Featured Replies

Hi, I'm wondering if I made a mistake in my order yesterday (you know how easy it is to keep adding options :giggle: ) The SM will be a 1.2 Elegance due May (or.....).

It's important to my wife that the passenger seat has both the backrest part of the seat heater and adjustable lumbar support and I wondered if for any reason either of these are deleted when the folding backrest is specified? Perhaps cabling the electrics through the hinge would be a problem?

Thinking today, roof bars would allow even longer pieces of wood so perhaps the folding seat back is rather pointless in comparison?

I was going to order this in my next yeti. Very useful when carrying sails for my boat or anything long (stepladders, wood etc).

Don’t really want to put on roof bars just to say take a stepladder around, might be raining!

Cant imagine that the lumbar would be effected and surely its just a hidden wire for the seat heater connection.

Check the Prorack Whispbar bars if you do want a set (roofbox.co.uk do them), they are a bit narrower but fit BETWEEN the roof rails rather than above - if anything they make the car look better and are dead silent. I love mine to bits and use them to carry bikes and sometimes my photography rig pole when I can't be bothered to remove the rear seats. ;)

Carnivorous,

I've had a look at the roofbox site and -perhaps It is me not visualising things well but I can't see a fit between option. Could you help? I could easily be persuaded to go for some permanent fit bars. Pictures and model numbers would be ideal!!

Thanks,

John

Thank you very much-a prompt, helpful and tempting response!

Here is your answer. I took this picture at the Geneva Motor show last March. As you can see the seat has the lumbar adjustment lever and on the dash you can see the heated passenger seat button as well (as that is standard with Alcantara trim as here).

(Click on the picture to enlarge it to see the heated seat button of course!)

I washed the car today so took some pictures of the roofbar setup quickly...it was dark the other day...

Also, if you have a dog, carry lots of dirty stuff, don't want to abuse your boot - the Skoda boot liners are a bit poo and overpriced,

hatchbag.co.uk do amazing custom liners that work with split-fold seats, have flaps to save your bumper and headrests, and even come with side bits for the plastic trim (which I don't really use). I've had a few of them now and highly recommend them.

Good for golf stuff, mucky wet skis, bicycles, etc. as well. :)

I took the folding backrest option. I have had use for it many times already. I highly recommend it.

And I can conform that the lumbar support and the seat heater is still there.

Thanks everyone for your input. Looks like they are worth having.

I'll keep the options and decide later when I have the Yeti if I'm too worried about damaging the seats and then buy the roof bars in addition!!

Does anyone know if the fold flat passenger seat can be retrofitted?

I have just bought my first Yeti S 1.2TSI on a 10 plate last week, it would be handy as I do a lot of fishing and I don't want to put my rodbag on a roof rack, I had to remove the rear centre seat yesterday and put the rodbag between the front seats. looking at the Yeti brochure it isn't an option on the S model

Couple of questions regarding the fold flat front passenger seat.

1) Is this option available for both leather as well as cloth seats?

2) Can the folding seat be adjusted as much as a regular seat (in terms of seat recline, height, etc)

I can also confirm that the folding front seat has lumbar support and a heated back (and base). It is available in leather, and the adjustment seems to be the same as on my previous Yeti which didn't have the fold-flat function.

This is a really dumb question-sorry

I have just bought a Yeti Elegance 2013 (Pre new uplift), it has leather heated seats, with lumber support

The manual says that you can fold the front passenger seat flat, this thread seems to say that you can, but how do you do it??

I can see the rotary knob that adjusts the seat back rake, the lever that adjusts height, the lever that adjusts backwards and forwards, and the lumber support lever, but what do I need to do to get the seat flat? I was assuming it might be another lever somewhere, but I can't find it

The manual implies that you rotate the lumber support such that it faces upwards-but that seems to do nothing other than affect....the lumber support!

I do apologise for being blind/stupid, but any help would be most appreciated.

I believe that the fold flat passenger seat is an option, which your car may not have. The manual will list all available options though.

It was indeed a chargeable option - not standard.  The really odd thing is that it ceases to be an available option for some bizarre reason if you opt for the electrically adjustable drivers seat.  Can't see why that should be, but it is.

Doc and Freedom, thanks for your  prompt answers. My elegance is a strange beast in that it does have quite a lot of options on top of the standard build, and the dealer did tell/hint that it was fitted with the folding passenger seat So that I can stop fretting about it, is there any way to definitively know? What should I look for?

Thanks again

See post #7 in this thread:

There's another lever on the opposite side to the inner round one that adjusts the backrest angle. It will also have the warning sticker on the back explaining how to use it (or not to use it).

When I bought my yeti I ordered both the electric front seat and the folding front passenger seat, which were both optional extras.

Found the folding seat very handy for long items as you can get a nice long flat loading area.
