Octavia Vrs leaking door seals.

Featured Replies

Had my octy vrs for about 6 weeks now. On the way back from London today in the rain I noticed that there was water coming in between the doors and the seals on both the drivers and passengers side. Is this a common fault and can I have it sorted under warranty?

I get it occasionally on the drivers side, enough that it drips 2 or 3 times a minute in really heavy rain, but other days it'll survive torrential rain with no leaks. I've tried wiping a bit of silicon grease over the seal to see if it sealed better but no difference. Interested if you find a fix.

Yes it's a common fault, and yes it's a warranty issue. I had to argue, but I got a dealer to fix mine. Do a search here and you will find loads of posts.

Thats the rear doors. I think that the OP is referring to the front doors dripping in from the top of the door.

Yes it is common, but not a fault. It is just surplus water that sits there in the seal when you open and shut the door. Then when you are doing a fair old speed the air pressure just forces the water through the seal. If it was 'leaking' you would have a lot more than a couple of drips.

I notice it more when i have my roof bars on as the seal is pushed more against the door.

Thanks for the advice so far guys. Jrw I am indeed referring to water coming in at the top if both front doors thus then proceeds to run down to roughly level with the wing mirror and then either drips onto my knee or into the foot well. However I must say I don't quite agree with your diagnosis and I certainly won't be pleased if the dealer comes back with that answer. Once again thanks for the info though.

no problem. I am talking 3 drips very occasionally when its been Sat in the rain. Perhaps you are getting more than that.

I think I'm getting a but more than that unfortunately. Coming down the motor way it was enough to form a rather large damp patch on my knee, that is what drew my attention to the fact there was water getting into the car otherwise I'd be none the wiser.

Mine let in a few drops last week on the motorway,

Its the first time its done it in 72,000 mile and 17 months of driving it.

Ruffday, thanks for the info. Sorry to hear your car has done this as well. It's a bit of a disappointment as the car is only 6 months old although I have only had it for the above mentioned 6/7 weeks.

I don't like to make a fuss usually but I feel a call to the dealers will have to be made tomorrow morning

Same thing happens (happened) to me in heavy rain (this morning). Annoying but no idea if it can be fixed.

Got a small weep on my n/s/f door when parked in certain wet conditions but i had my elec window done under warranty so i don,t reckon they re-sealed the carrier.Thats a job when the better weather comes.

Quick up date on the issue of the door seals. Rang the dealer to say I'm not happy with the fact they are leaking. The car us booked in for replacement ones on second of April so will have to wait to see what happens once these new ones are fitted.

Will update you all in due course.

When I open my drivers door after a lot of rain then water spils out of the bottom onto the road. Thankfully nothing actually spils out inside the car at all.

Was a bit of a shock the first time it happened, door opened, steady stream of water comes out.

I also get a lot of water leaking from the two drain holes in the front doors after being parked in the rain, typically overnight. None inside the car but I wonder how is it getting into the door? ANd if water is sitting inside the door will the moisture get into electric window gear, locks etc?

Bringing an old post up, but for the first time ever today in really heavy rain going to Glasgow from Edinburgh i ended up with water dripping in at the seal at the top of the door, i have never experienced a car that does this and find it ridiculous that it should do it.

The only time I've had any problem with the front door seals was when I had roof bars on - got the odd drip on my knee when it rained heavily. Otherwise no leaks in 145,000 miles.

I suffered from this as well coming home on Easter Monday, travelling down the M6 arm on the window and 'drip' !

Once I had noticed it I couldn't help realise that it was happening and it was bloomin annoying !

Just a quick update on the situation. The car has been back to the dealers and so im told extensively water tested. Surprise surprise they can't find a leak.

Luckily we haven't had any real down pours recently so I'm not able to tell if this is a one off or not, still I don't expect my car to be letting in water especially when it's under a year old.

I had this. Dealers had my car to replace my leaking boot seal and I told them about the door. They tested it, adjusted the door slightly and it's been fine since.

Mine did this a month after i got it driving down the m1 in pouring rain i got a drip or two coming through the drivers door seal, had it 18 months now & its never done it since.......

Looks like I will have to be watching mine, the wife complained of water coming in from the top of the NS front door on Easter Monday :rain:. Took delivery in January.

Definitely seems to be a bit variable. I did a couple of hours in the rain at the weekend with no leak, but have previously had it leak quite badly.

I have been putting up with this for a couple of years now, its very hit & miss.

I have been told that an adjustment on the door hinge can solve the problem (by a bodyshop with extensive Skoda experience)

I've only been a Skoda driver for a couple of month, but my 09 Plate (Pre-Facelift) Octavia had a leak from the top of the NS front door. After reading various posts on here about leaks and door alignment I moved the striker plate up (a bit) and in (very slightly). Had heavy rain here last night and today car is free of leaks.

To move the striker I loosened the bolts, as I have no idea if something will drop into the B Pillar if you remove them completely.

The Air con compresser has been done under warranty and I'm now a happy Skoda owner.

Many thanks to Briskoda for pointing me in the right direction.

I have a leak through the n/s/f door into the footwell, I wonder if the fix above might work (might also try resealing the carrier).
