Fmic

Featured Replies

What are the best choices on fmic price n performance wise? And what are people runing on the cars

There's a few around, depends on budget really. There was a thread started not too long ago with all the available options.

I'll see if I can find it

theres a group buy on one in the group buy section, only £200. ive bought one and cant fault it, comes with all the pipes and clamps aswel.

Thanx for da link mate ive been looking at the seat sport set up but then i think y spend that much when the group buy is 200 n does the same job lol

You get what you pay for IMHO.

I run the SS one and my charge temps are really low.

Its a really well made cooler with a Thick core and a large surface area!

What differences does a fmic really make?

I've noticed a massive improvement in terms of heat soak. When driving so swansea every week via heads of valley road with the old smic I would feel a power loss which was quite noticable when overtaking up the hills. Since the fmic fitted it pulls a little better but its deffo for a longer duration of the journey.

That would be good to see how good it actually is.

Lower inlet temps - period. When cruising the IAT is 2 to 3 degrees above ambient. Give it a bit of wellie, and it will climb to 5 to 6 above. Drive it constantly hard, and it will reach 10-15 degrees above ambient.

Compare to standard SMIC - even on standard turbo. Cruising 7 to 8 above ambient. Bit of wellie, jumps to 20 to 40 degrees above. Drive constantly hard, 50 to 70 degrees plus.

I have also just bought an intercooler from the group buy to and will be fitting saturday. Looks like a great kit and should hopefully see an improvement to. Well i know i will as my lower pipe is leaking like mad so car is definitely down on power!

Aimt them seat sport intercoolers prone 2 cracking ive been told

Not really, only when your running in excess of 220-240 bhp.

yeah so ive been reading the seat sport coolers split if your running higher boost i.e. a hybrid and map.

Im reli tempted to just buy the group buy 1 and save meself abit of cash

Been running big boost on my hybrid turbo with a seat sport cooler for well over a year no issues at all.

How much has it cost people to actualy get the seAt sport cooler n pipe work

I priced up a SS intercooler the other week direct from TPS it's £237 direct off them and the Pipework I've seen for £225

Or get the THS Performance version. Better quality and thicker core.

I do like the look of the Seat Sport set up as I had a look on a mates car, ..... But I don't fancy chopping stuff up on the car really.

So I'm on the hunt for a Second hand Forge setup but having no luck and I'm not paying new prices, just have to play the waiting game no rush.

Can definitely tell with the car doing one little spirited burst of acceleration and putting foot down again it's all heatsoaked up lol.

THS FMIC looks better quality than the Seat Sport I think.
