Fitting Super Pro Dogbone Bush *now fitted-mega vibrations!*

Featured Replies

Evening :)

So this turned up today

Is there anything I need to be aware of before diving in there and finding myself without a car? What method did you use to remove the old bush and new bush fitting?

From what I understand, you don't need to support the engine?

Many thanks

Easy peasy job, get stuck in!

Get ready for some extra vibr-r-r-r-r-r-r-r-r-rations!

Cheers dude! The mrs might enjoy sitting at traffic lights now then! She was moaning the other day the ride is too stiff as the crappy roads were making her baps hurt!!

Sorted, all fitted and back together in about 45 mins! Time for a test drive, bring on the vibes lol

Omg, vibrations are insane!! I've uploaded a vid to YouTube will post once it's active, I really hope this settles as I can almost feel my teeth chattering.

You can use vag-com to increase the idle speed slightly this calms the vibrations down quite a lot. Have you gone for the softer of. The two bushes because there is a petrol and a diesel version. Even abnormal idle mine wasnt that noticeable

Yeah it's the 70k diesel one mate, here's the vid. You can hear the whole cabin shake and see the vid warping with vibration.

Perhaps the bracket moved a little on the mount bone while removing the old bush, wonder of that could be making things worse

Try using vag com have a play with the idle remember the valve it was at before u started so if no difference can swap it back. Cant remember weather mine vibrated when I first fitted it tho it's been a while

Ok will have a crack at that later, shifts feel nice now anyway!

It's time for the pub though, weathers too good to be sitting around inside!

pub at 11:30....... you have a drink problem more like :giggle:

It will settle down. I have the Jabba mega-stiff dogbone bush / mount and it was real bad to start. Now you do get vibrations, but nowhere near as bad. Just remember that bush means the gearbox is being held sure, and gearchanges will be smoother.

I'll learn to live with it, pub lunch not for another hour now so it's ok :p

About to take the missus out, I'm prepared for a right moaning at...something along the lines of "what have you done to your car now!?" simple reply, walk if you don't like it :D

I think I will be after fitting one of these pretty soon but I have a question, does this bush solve the wild rocking back of forth of the top end of the engine whilst on idle as I didn't realise just how much the engine moves till I fired mine up last week after my service.

I'm used to having 5+ engine steadies with 2 being solid mounted on my Classic Mini so not really seen an engine move lol

To the guys who have these fitted, would you recommend them then? Do they compliment the driving experience any?

The crisper gear changes sound ideal, is it worth the vibration?

Well worth fitting I think, they do vibrate a bit but it dies down after a few hundred miles.which one do you have fitted as I think there was different stiffness's

You can tell the difference on "fast progress" / track situations. Under hard acceleration the engine/box isn't moving back and forth as you get on and off the power, to shifts are more precise - more "reliable" if you will. :)

The vibration isn't bad and it's an easy job to do.

I have had mine fitted for a few moths now. and yeah there was a fair bit of vibration to start with but it's died down now and is fine. gear shifts are so mch better, although in 6th I still get gear stick knock? any ideas as to what this could be caused by?

Fitted one of these at Xmas and to be honest I never noticed any increase in vibration.

If there was any it was so minimal that I didn't notice.

It's making me think something could be wrong, it's hardcore shaking and buzzing. Steering wheel and keys jangling all over the place lol.

So could this be another engine mount that's worn highlighted by the stiffer lower mount?

Going to take it on a nice long drive tomorrow to see if it calms down a little.

You can compare to mine at Combe. Mine still vibes enough at tickover to shake keys and similar, but I am used to it now. I don't feel anything once engine revs build up, but I think there is a resonance thing at 900rpm which feeds right through into the cabin.

mine had a bit more vibration after fitting the same part, nothing massive like you seem to have and it does seem to have calmed down with time. or I'm just used to it now :)

I'll learn to live with it, pub lunch not for another hour now so it's ok :p

Tel u what mate that sounds just like my lass to and she gets the same responce lmao

Couple hundred miles in and still feeling just as bad, fingers start to go numb when sat at traffic lights for a while!

Just wondering if this has highlighted another mount that's failed perhaps? How would I check the upper gearbox mount?

I've double checked the mount fitting and everything is fine.
