Went Yeti shopping today

Featured Replies

Went to local dealer today to see about ordering a new Yeti (decided against the Superb). Yeti is a good all rounder that offers everything I really want/need.

Still in a quandary re: 2wd or 4wd as this could save £4k but the jury is still out none the less.

Basically as I still think I would like a diesel 4x4 with DSG I've been quoted about 7-9 months for delivery which is fine.

Basically the offer I got was a guaranteed trade in value for mine (2010 4x4 Elegance 110 2.0 diesel, 13k miles) of £16k although no budging on list price for the new one? If Yeti values stay quite high then I may get offered more on the part-ex but certainly no less.

Does this seem ok?

Still can't decide on colour or black/gobi interior.

Regards

It would be worth your while seeing how much you would get for your present car (from adifferent dealer) without a making a purchase, and then seeing how much you are quoted on drive the deal or skoda store.com. Skoda store are a dealer in Mansfield and got mine 5 months by adjusting an exisitng order for a demo to my specs. You may find a discount of around 11% or so and a straight sale work out better.

My experiences with 4WD are limited to "softroaders". A number of Toyota Rav4s, Suzuki 410,413,Vitara and SX4. As I rarely went offroad my impressions come from normal road use. All the aforementioned had a feel of "surefootedness" that gave a degree of confidence but the increasing costs in fuel,VED and insurance have made me reconsider.

The Yeti SE 110 2WD has so far filled all the requirements of my current motoring, including towing a 1000kg caravan.

Circumstances change and matching your requirements and budget whilst not losing any motoring enjoyment can be difficult.

Fred

That's a big chunk of depreciation your taking there just to drive a newer version of the same car?

Whats the reason for the change?

  • Author

Not sure if depreciation is that bad, car will be almost 3 years old if I don't get the new one till the end of the year, it's really the move for a DSG car that's driving the change. I'm still trying to decide if I can get by with the 1.2 DSG with 2wd.

Think there might be a better deal out there than that you have been offered.

When I considered changing to a nearer model, the local dealer offer could get nowhere near what Allams came up with after talking with James. Would seriously consider shopping around before committing; worth contacting the site sponsors such as Allams (Beth) or Prestons (Lee).

TP

Agree with TP above, our Yetis came through Lee at Preston Motors.

In my opinion a dealer not prepared to give a bit on the list price doesn't want to make a sale. They are relying on low turnover and high profit.

Thanks I have 2 other local dealers I will try also see if they can beat that, I don't really want to travel too far however so although I belive the site sponsors may do a good deal they are a bit far from me.

And? You will own said car for years. Even after the cost of single train ticket down south, the saving you could make could still be substantial. I never understand people that buy the second most expensive thing they own (apart from their house) at a convenient close by location, instead of at a place where it is the cheapest (possibly by thousands - e.g. DtD)... Remember you will still service the car and have all the warranty work done at any of your local dealers with no issues.

As we're naming options....Yes, Drive the Deal should be readily considered. No experience with the other two sponsors, but would be wise to contact. And myself would again mention Mike at Marlborough Motors, Isleworth, West London, from whom I received excellent service and a great deal - and just up the road from a mainline, railway station. They used to supply Drive the Deal...but don't think they do now........in fact, who DOES supply them now?

All that said however, from experience, you tell people what you think is a good idea and they go and do something completely different - which is fine I guess as we all do what suits us best at the time. Paying for convenience and lack of hassle or a long journey is a price worth paying for many, I'm sure.

+1

Marlborough gave me an excellent deal.

Even after the cost of flights down, overnight in hotel I still saved a big chunk. They matched DTD and added free mudflaps and mats plus a full tank of fuel for the journey home. No dealer in Scotland could get anywhere near the deal.

As Johann says, your spending a lot of money, its worth the travel if your making a substantial saving.

I heard a birdie say ......

Are they cheep?

Are they cheep?

I don't know oldstan. I'm not in the market for a new Yeti at the moment so have not researched it any further than making a note of the actual dealer when someone had mentioned it on here earlier...

Are they cheep?

Perhaps someone will Tweet you about that...

Seem to recal it might be :- http://www.hayselden-cars.co.uk/ ?

Ohh! that'll be where my Yeti came from.

Excellent service I recieved from them through my lease company.

The sales man (Kevin I think) who I spoke to was very knowledgable when it came to the towbar on the yeti. He owns an octavia and tows carvans so knew all about the coding etc that was needed.

From my limited dealings I would recommend.

I just wish people wouldn't parrot the same old line.

Who's Tern is it next then? Whatever you do don't mention the price of Petrel.

Kitti, wake up and tell Montagu's Harrier to stop Grousing.

Well, Red Started it, he was only 'aving a Lark tho'.
