FAO 312mm brake owners

Featured Replies

I find that when under heavy breaking the rear gets a bit light. Anyone else suffer from this.

My car has OEM spec 312mm discs and DS2500 pads. The rear still has original pads. Cars done over 22K miles incl a couple of track days and the odd A/B road drive ;)

Is it time to replace the rears with some DS2500?

cheers in advance

Mine does this on std disks and sticky tyres :)

Isn't this just all the car's weight distribution shifting to the front, making the back end light? Stick some ballast in the boot - that'll sort it

If you increase the backs, they may lock on braking as they will be over braking.

What you need I think, is to stop the nose from diving. Was talking to Bill and he's got the problem of the rears over braking since he has oversized fronts.

Might be other answers of course ;)

I have EBC greenstuff pads on the fronts and the backs, along with EBC turbogroove disks on the fronts and the backs.

I still find the front does nose dive sufficiently though...

You DONT want the rears to lock... as it will almost certainly spin the car!

its not helped by your strange std spring/eibach damper combo, where the suspension would be slow to react to bumps et al.

I suspect there is a brake bias valve on the car which causes the front to break more than the rear. I think I remember someone saying to me that it can be adjusted but I am not a sure how.

Fit uprated and lowered springs and your car won't dive under brakling - so the weight shift which is causing your problem will be minimised...

my old ibiza had a rear brake bias valve that had to be adjusted when lowered, basically it thought the car was loaded up and rear braked harder.easliy sorted,i doubt the fabia has it,its quite an old method, circa mk2 golf gti.

no idea how to sort it on your car,or what controls it, ECU maybe?

sorry missed that bit,if it is on there its a piece of cake, car on level ground unladen, undo nut on the valve ,let it centre itself and retighten, never happened again on my ibiza, may be different on the newer fabia,so don't hold me to it,brakes are essential items, if in doubt get your dealer/mechanic to look at it

There isnt, no need with ABS as that sorts out what brake force needs to go where.

Twin 15" subs anyone???

my old ibiza 16v had abs ,but still had the adjuster, whether its on the fabia is a different matter

Yup.. its all automatic on the fabia... rather disconcerting when it does work tho

I noticed that mine did this on the track follow John in his Octi on the stadard set-up. So I guess it will probably do it more with more stopping power.

So when I go for the upgrade I had best add a uprated srings as well?

Thats the key in that statement. The newer ABS have dne away with it. Allways seized up and never worked anyow..lol.
