Octavia II vRS before (e.g. 2007) the facelift and after that (e.g. 2009)

Featured Replies

Guys, I own a rare Octavia II Sport and considering an upgrade to vRS. Does anyone one know if there is any difference between the vRS before the facelift (i.e. 2007) and the vRS after the facelift. Engine and power seem the same I was more wondering about suspension, brakes or any fixes?!

Does anyone know?

Many thanks,

Yavor

There is a difference in engines. The pre-FL used the TFSI engine, where as the FL uses the TSI unit.

One of the main differences is a change from cambelt to camchain.

The facelift came in about 2009 if I remember. The tsi engine replaced the tfsi at around the same time although some of the later pre facelifts got the tsi engine too. The CR replaced the PD in 2008.

I can't remember which mag has just got an Edition 35 as a long term test (Evo I think), but they seem to rate the EA113 BWA TFSI engine better than the EA888 TSI, citing it as being a bit 'washing-machiney'. I've not used the latter but I can't help thinking an engine with a chain would be preferable to one with a belt, if only from a longevity viewpoint.
