ohh, must be. What is the top speed quoted as in India since the acceleration is quoted as so much less? It is quoted as 223 kph here, had mine up to just under 200 before bottling, being done at this speed, and more, can mean jail and not just fine and licence.

same top speed, i guess the slower acceleration numbers is due to the 91 octane fuel.

This I'm afraid is a common con in India. As you see from the video the Indians still sing praises and use superlatives to describe the car. The base price for that car with the inferior wheels brakes engine etc is still about £22K. Thats a direct conversion. In terms of purchasing power or true cost it's probably double that. Lot of manufacturers will introduce premium cars then change to smaller wheels, drum brakes and remove things like airbags etc. Nobody in the western world would stand for it!

What is you say is true ! The skoda is really expensive if compared to the western world !

But then the only options within that price range and could be considered as direct competition for the octy are a Toyota corolla Altis, a Honda civic (which I don't know is how many generations old as compared to what other countries get), VW jetta (with a 140bhp CR engine ..... That's it) and a very cheaply built Chevy cruze.

So then again I find myself saying ... Even with its numerous cons ... The skoda octavia vRs (or the Laura vRs) as we call it is the best bet we have .!
