Up! v Citigo

Featured Replies

Thanks top the poster with the e-brochure. I am a passionate VW fan and only own VW. However, I am seriously thinking Skoda. In the past we have had a cracking Fabia TDi but I would like an Up! and to be honest the tinted rear glass is a must these days.

To my pleasant surprise the more mundane middle of the range SE version boasts such an option at £160 which may tempt me away from the Up! Bluemotion. Has anyone sen the seats in the Move Up! frankly they are cheap and worse than the street urchin spec Take UP!

My only cobncern about the Skoda is interiors and seat trim tend to be infinitely poorer than VW becuase this is where the cost savings are made?

Who is conisdering a Citigo against and Up! and what is your reasoning as the VW Lupo out shone and out sold what became regarded as the poverty Seat Arosa. My concern is VW residuals will trounce Seat as a given and may also trounce Skoda, but the SEAT Mii will definitely lose the most money.

Any views on residuals which ultimately are governed by desirabiliity and the Up! seems to have it all in these stakes.

We've been looking at both with our son.

Cost wise you're looking at the top spec Citigo Elegance against the mid spec VW moveup.

That gives you Alloys and The clever Nav computer PID.over the VW.+ other doo-dads.

Depreciation and future values are forecast as similar according to my dealer, and while he doesn't have his finance packages available yet ,he anticipates costing slightly less than the VW.

We'll be seeing the Dealer next week ......

Quick Edit: The Citigo also comes with the Greentech as standard giving 96 grms/co2 therefore free road tax and a couple of extra miles per gallon.

It's an extra cost option on the Moveup.

From looking at photos of the cars, the Up!, Citigo and Mii are exactly the same apart from exterior styling, different steering wheels and gearknobs, spec at each trim level. Personally I would buy a Citigo as I get more for my money.

Seats look identical, so if you don't like the VW's seats, the others are probably the same. What we have is the VAG equivalent of the 107/C1/Aygo - the same car with slightly different styling.

I think the Up! and the Citigo will hold the strongest residuals, Seat seems to have fallen off peoples radar, often because the interiors of their other models are shocking for the extra money they want, so I don't imagine I'll see a lot of Mii's running around. Up! and Citigo will rule.

As per a previous post of mine I am test driving the Citigo on May 16th (date changed due to misinformation) but in the meantime I shall be popping in to the local VW dealership to have a good look and by the 16th be able to compare the 2 and post some thoughts.

I love the 16" classic wheels and the striped seats on the Up! black / white, so I would go for the Up! but they've irritated me by not offering the 75PS version with bluemotion technology, pushing it above 99g/km CO2. Skoda give you the equivilent of bluemotion technology on the 75PS version of the citigo by default. I think that might swing me toward the Skoda.

I think I'd probably go for an Elegance with all the packs. Nice little car that.
