Back to the OP's question;

I reckon its just a coincidence to be honest however it's a moot point as surely it will be covered under warranty anyway..............

Officially the fault was eventually traced to a pin problem (the report says at the coolant sensor and the ECU ) I believe they replaced the wiring loom that goes between them.

I maybe unfair on them but my instinct suspects they may have disturbed the loom during the recall - perhaps they disconnected the ECU to reprogram it and when they refitted it they damaged the pin?

Although it was a warranty job, the garage couldnt offer a courtesy car necessitating two unnecessary trips to the dealer in my car and having to lend my car to my son so he could get to work (night shift 75 miles). They said no car was available but it suddenly became available when they realised after a day that they couldnt fix the problem. It took 4 days to fix the problem, so all in all the customer satisfaction level is low.

Perhaps point out your suspicions to SUK and see what response you get?

As I and my son rely on this dealer I dont think I'll be doing myself any favours complaining about what may or may not have happenned. I have to give them the benefit of the doubt. In the end they fixed it under warranty and a courtesy car was eventually offered.

Well, less than 24 hours have passed and I get a frantic call from my son that somethings seriously wrong. Loud scraping sounds etc from the engine/undercar. This can't be a concidence. Son has to take my car AGAIN to get to work.

Skoda servicing have gone home so they are getting both barrels tomorrow morning.

This morning - they didnt return my call so I phoned them again only to be told they cant look at it today! Despite me telling them its my sons only means of getting to work which involves a 75mile trip.

Because of the problems arising since the "product enhancement" the car has been off the road for over a week in which time I have to lend my car to my son, I wonder at what point do I say enough is enough.

The car is less than 4 months old, the dealer has obviously broken it twice is there somewhere I can complain and get some action?

I also queried why they "test drove" it for 17 miles, they said it was normal to do that after having an EM light on, seems excessive to me.

as has been said, contact skoda UK.

If the car isn't driveable contact skoda assistance. If they can't fix it they will tow it in and arrange a hire car through enterprise.

Turned out to be a stone stuck between disk and back plate!

Hopefully, the run of bad luck has stopped and my son can enjoy the car once more.

I had the opportunity to drive my sons Octavia some distance and I must say it beats the Fabia hands down! Its light years ahead in every area - noise, ride, performance, comfort, luxury, economy, etc etc.

I also drove the courtesy car - a Roomster diesel Scout - a joke of a car - felt like I was driving a works van.....embarassing. Who on earth would buy one of these with the white /black two tone interior?

The roomster isn't too my taste as a car either but if they market it as a van I definatly would look at having one rather than the heap of crap I got now(07 transit connect). But as it will be in direct competition with the caddy, VAG won't release it here in the uk even though it's available in mainland Europe as the skoda praktik

I heartily concur Xman having just moved from the Fabia myself. The Octavia is a limo by comparison. Glad you got the problem sorted
