VRS estate roof bars

Featured Replies

Hi Guys,

I have been looking into the fabia vrs and have come to the conclusion I prefer the estate over the hatch! Shocking I know. This is mainly for the extra boot space!

I have a question which I hope somebody can help me with....the roof racks? can these be taken off when they are not being used or are they a permanent feature? This is just because they are a bit useless unless I need them.

Also any reviews (even if only very short) on everyday driving/usage of the vrs estate would be much appreciated.

Cheers for now.

Luke

First off, Im not too sure if they are removable, but the fact they are black they help break up the shape of the car and, imo, make it look even better. Have you had the chance to see one in the flesh?

Ive had mine for 8months now, near on 18,000miles, and I bloody love it.

The engine can be what you want it to be, refined and easy going when you just want to potter around (not too often) or its pull for as long as you have your foot planted, the pick up of power from low revs all the way through is great. The DSG, although I was against it in principle, is amazing! Handling and turn in are pretty good, very little body roll.

As I use mine for work, its been pretty well used and lived in. fuel consumption is decent 35mpg if im storming about but 40 odd mpg if im sensible. Boot space is significant, especially with the seats completely folded down, everyone Ive showed it to are always surprised by this.

.

The seats are a revelation in my opinion, very supportive but also real comfy, ive done 5-6hrs motorway driving and not even a little discomfort.

Build quality is standard VAG, pretty good! Ive had a few squeaks and rattles and one problem with my accelerator but my skoda dealer sorted them as soon as they were mentioned, apart from that see runs beautifully and is held together pretty tight.

Try and get yourself a test drive, you'll be pleasantly surprised!

I haven't had the pleasure of seeing one in the flesh....yet! I think it's just when you look at the ones for sale on auto trader for example if they have the chrome alloys with the roof bars I don't know if it looks like too many colours! Haha being picky I know.

I have test driven the hatchback a while back and was very impressed with the responsiveness of the DSG. I would be doing about 50 miles a day, so the mpg would be fine for me, should I not floor it too much.

What colour combo have you got yours with? I think black wheels look the bees knees with the roof racks.

Cheers

That's pretty sweet! Bigger to clean though!

See I think the black wheels look good with the roof rack but if you were to put chrome/ silver alloys that skoda are doing it would look different do you not think?

I have a white estate with dark chrome alloys, looks spot on imo. I do however love race blue with the same wheels or black wheels :)

I'm really liking the race blue option!

Need to wait for another VAT free offer. I think the estate is an acquired taste, read a few reviews saying its a waste of time.

Really? lol

I'd think it makes the hatch a waste of time - loads more space, better economy and faster etc (marginal I might add!)

I doubt you'll see another VAT free offer anytime soon.

Not seen any negative reviews specifically targetting the estate myself but aslong as it keeps numbers down i'm happy. I swear if we're at the lights with a 911 we'll be the one getting more sideways glances, viva la marmite car! :giggle:

We love it, for performance, equipment and functionality I don't think there's anything out there to match it for under 15k. Race blue with black wheels looks well smart with black pack I reckon.

I bought the estate because I needed the extra boot space - Having owned it for a month now, I think it has the edge over hatch looks-wise too. A friend who owns an Audi A5 was genuinely impressed by my vRS estate - you get a very versatile and fun car for a relatively small outlay. The gloss black roofbars enhance the cars appearance in my opinion.

Incidentally, the dealer reckoned that the vRS estate is very likely to be a rare car - no bad thing really. I was also informed that Skoda are very unlikely to 'push/promote' the Fabia vRS with any 'VAT Free' offers in the near future, partly due to the fact that the DSG is in short supply and is causing long delays at the factory...

Pretty much agree with others comments however my major negative point is re the ride quality which for me, is very firm. The hatch (which I have driven extensively) has a different feel without a shadow of a doubt.

Interior is nice, seats are good but build quality is only fair, I was very dissapointed moving from an Octavia and perhaps naively expected a smaller version....

dont pick green, it makes my car more rare

OM NOM NOM!

The Octavia is really nice inside however the MK2 Fabia is leaps and bounds above the MK1 imo - only area it suffers is door handles...

With a little one the estate is a great boon!

Although we do have a C-Max it's pretty much as practical (boot space wise) as the Ford is. I really like it now I've had a a couple of weeks.

Oh and black is best! Came with painted roof bars too.

I don't think there will be another VAT free offer on the vRS mainly due to the DSG issue.

To echo a few comments the Estate is a lot more practical and rarer - but it is all down to taste.

Have a word with your local dealer to see what is in immediate stock, you would have to be pretty flexible on colour and spec but it would save the wait that a few members are going through.

10-12 months I was realistically told. There were none in stock last month (apparently) which is how I ended up with an ex demo.

They are like hens teeth and as every dealership can see the car you've probably got, at a guess, 400 salesman all looking for that car so they do go quick.

It's a case of checking and checking and yep more checking!
