I have the older ones on my ER6 and it makes it VERY wide at the back.

Reminds me of the Starship enterprise.

The new ones are more tapered and don't need all the ugly racks to clip them to.

Those on yours look similar to my Givi V35's.

I think side opening panniers are abit flawed tbh. Theyre just nowhere near as good as top opening ones are they, but i guess its style again?

The panniers on my dads GS adventure dwarf mine. If we go for a trip, i sometimes just drop stuff into his. Its just easier n hes nearly always got bags of room left

Discussing luggage today with a mate and we both rate it as one of the most important factors in choosing a bike.

I can't understand why the bikes are not designed in an egg shape with fairing to the front, loads of luggage to the rear and the gap in-between for the rider and passenger.

Personally I would have a light small bike with one seat, no pillion and better loading provision than is currently available.

I know there are courier and post bikes, as well as full luggage tourers, but nothing seems to make the best use of the space and weight capacity.

I'd loses the rear seat to have an integrated double length box with more capacity and streamlining.

It is an area that needs revolutionising as they seem to design the bike then awkwardly bolt on the luggage often with 5kg capacity or similar which is pointless.

A nice big framed 250 4 stroke with loads of integrated luggage, integrated sat-nav, heated grips and seat and shaft drive would suit me best. I've had the BMW R1100RT, 1150RT and 1200RT and don't need the weight and power.

Okay so maybe a little but bigger engine than a 250, but a Honda Deauville only knocks out 64bhp, theyve got built in panniers, super reliable and cheap too.

At the cost of being a little boring though IMO.

They are made for Kawasaki by GIVI, just branded with a kwacker logo,

tbh I would keep anything I needed handy while riding in a tank bag.

They cane the aerodynamics and fuel consumption though.

They are 35 litres each so almost certainly the same boxes...

I'd treat the panniers as suitcases so would only open them once at my digs.

I'm not the camping type. My idea of hell that is. If I was doing long distance touring

I'd have to have a clean bed and a hot shower available and some good food.

Hotels and B&Bs all the way for me. I haven't camped since I was about 15 and I

am in no rush to repeat the experience. Did my time in cubs, scouts and army cadets

so have probably camped a lot more than most in my time but I'm getting soft in my

old age and enjoy my comforts...

Yes, ridden one ages back, although it has all the ingredients it does not make my cake!

Thanks, though!

Yeah i had a magnetic Oxford tank bag for the SV. It was very useful for this n that. Havent had it on the viffer yet but if i go on any big trips this yeah i probably will.

I dont mind abit of campin. Been to quite a few bike rally's. Theyre alreet. Plenty of beer, music n what not, can be a laugh.

The women can be abit hairy though. Not into that.

Not my usual sort of ride but full marks for getting these to market @ £2699 brand new with 2 year warranty

It's a Sinnis Heist 250 and Sinnis, like Sym are top notch Chinese bikes.

Yeah but you are more or less half my age mate :D

Yeah but you are more or less half my age mate :D

Fair enough yeah haha. I'll probably turn to your way of thinking when i get a few years under my belt haha.

Part of me says that really, at 22 i should be riding sports bikes whilst i can. Gsxr 750 or something. But i dno, im just not massively interested in em. Rather go somewhere than race around the same A roads. Im probably old before my time anyway haha

The 2 mates i ride with most, one has a zzr600 n the other a 675 Daytona. They are abit quicker round the local roads, where as i ride abit more reserved n bare in mind i dont know whats round the corner. Theyve crashed more times than me, so this tells me they are going abit too quick lol. But out on a decent length ride n they start to bug me. Wanting to pull over every 50 miles cos they ache, or they need a pee. Id rather keep going lol

Scary similar looking, parts bins must cater for all.

They felt wide on the Z, never had any bother filtering with them on M25 etc. The new ones are so much better for mounting, I am just not a fan of their shape. Any time I use panniers I just put my stuff in a rucksack and put that into the pannier and use the bungees inside to hold it in place, especially handy if you buy a ruck sack with a certain litre capacity as it will fit (givi/kawasaki do their own bags, but were expensive and not as good as a ruck sack for onward carrying). I have stopped at a hotel before and carried the things in like suitcases and it was not fun on 5th floor with no lift in Reading :( (had a topbox, so 2 trips). I like using ruck sacks as I can just whip them out rummage around at side of road for what I want and make good use of little pockets for small gadgets. Then the additional water proofing it offers. On top of that I just put the ruck sacks inside a thick plastic bag if it's set to be really wet. Something too heavy shifting inside can press against the door and compromise the seal so I take no chances.

All this luggage talk I need to get my arse in gear. Next month I'm off on a little tour with my uncle and mate, only 4 days but need to decide on what to put stuff and security mainly.

The Givi v35's are roughly the same width as the VFR mirrors.

I might look for some bags for them tbh. Would be much better

I had a set of similar Oxford ones back in the beginning that I took as part ex on a big leather sofa I couldn't shift when moving, great we solution and had little storm covers etc too. I gave them away years ago and am sorely regretting that now as they are so bloody expensive compared to back then....

I pack far too much and never use half of it..... Don't be like me! My favourite for short tour is a pair of trainers, a couple of T-shirts etc in tank bag and my debit card.

This was just ferrying the bike from NL to NI and took some stuff to wear for a few days and fly back for the Octy. I don't know why, but I love having all the luggage on the bike, makes me feel as if I am actually going somewhere (even if I am not).

Keep them big time! I have my panniers and top box from the ZZR1200 still, cheapy Kappa ones, but came on the bike and did the job.

Aye, they are the ones I turned down, but I took every other option when ordering the bike. Can't fire it over my shoulder and just look like bowling ball bags. For the same money you could have 2 decent backpacks, then especially if with a pillion you can leave the bike and take all valuables with you over your shoulder and go on foot. Something basic like this http://www.amazon.co.uk/Trespass-Neroli-Ruck-Sack-Graphite/dp/B00K6I1YN8/ref=sr_1_4?ie=UTF8&qid=1425237778&sr=8-4&keywords=backpack and you get all the wee pockets and things to organise stuff better in etc.

Heads up for anyone interested.

Smoked pinlock insert universal fit for much cheapness.

My drop down fighter pilot thingy thingy steams up so I avoid

using it tbh. Hoping this will be better for me.

I've just ordered a couple for mine and the wifes lid.

At that price they are chuckaway if they don't fit.

Nice one. Ordered 2 myself.

Pinlock is awesome. Never had a dark one before though.

Might aswel for £7 (:

Hummmmm, how'd these throw over bags fit then?

Dead handy for occasional use for short trips etc. Solo longer touring might struggle just.
