What happens if the password 'Joshua' doesn't stop the "Global Thermonuclear War"?!!!

Turn off your computer and hide under your bed in that case :-)

Yes but I know what you're sat behind, and I'd guess that's well patched ;)

The point I'm making is turn you're bleeding firewall on! (Which obviously your draytek will be doing fine)

haha, actually I could be sat behind multiple units, currently in the loft there is a 2820, a 120 and a firebox

I use lots of computers - but the PCs I use are ; Ipad3, Lenovo i5 Laptop, MSI Laptop, I7 desktop, E3300 Desktop, C2D 6400 Desktop and occasionally a Acorn A7000. I have other odd bits and bods that are used as well for messing- HP Journada, Psion 7 , NSLU2 and a couple or three old laptops. I think I have too many.

Normally use my Q6600 system, but it's poorly (Dead hdd), so using an old, slow retired Dell poweredge server at the minute (Not sure on the model, but it's got 3x 18GB SCSI drives in it). Also use my 450MHz Pentium 2 vag-com laptop and Nokia N95 8GB.

Got a windows 98 retro gaming machine too.

Really....

So you can't hack a BSD/Linux system either then right?

Seriously you can use a remote exploit to get you access to a box and then use a local exploit to get you root.

Do you think the mac sudo protects you from buffer overflows and those sort of exploits.

Pushing things into the memory of tasks that run as root also works too if there is an issue there. That won't leave anything odd.

People can clean up after themselves and there is also the chown command, that can see to files with the wrong owners.

If you're so confident, then you won't be worried about putting your details up all over the internet and allowing everyone to have a go.

I'm not saying I want to have a go, but seriously, stop believing the hype and take security seriously.

There was a mac exploit thatn ran via their outdated version of java, there have been other ways of getting in.

Sure windows might have a lot more issues, but don't think that it's impossible for you to get caught.

It isn't.

Set the firewall up on your internet router and use it properly!

Indeed I work in a data centre with over 10,000 servers and 95% of them are linux or some flavour. Even with them sitting behind the onboard firewall they can still be exploited. So always better to have some form of firewall than non. no firewall means stolen bank logins and such! silly people. Best mac firewall to have is little snitch or just buy a decent juniper firewall at about 10k should be fine!:p but back on topic I have a stickerbombed 2009 mbp with 8gig of ram.
