so ive had a very productive day today fitting my new gearbox that i got yesterday! mind you, it was a bloody nightmare but thats the fun and challenging bit about it. i also done other bits and bobs like change hoses. one of which has been the oil breather pipes. but ill let the pictures do most the talking.

so work begins and the weather holds out thank god. start off with cleaning the rocker cover as it was filthy. luckily i had a couple of helpers with me lol. and it was dirty so alot of scrubbing and burning it off with petrol and we were getting there. also heres the pic of the forge blanking plate on. hmmm shineyyy!!

when i was underneath the car prepareing to put in the gearbox i decided to check out the turbo so i took off the cast inlet pipe and found this.........

well here we are! the 02J EHA gearbox with 64,000 on the clock. it came all gift wrapped aswell haha. lucky meeee, felt like xmas.

anyway like i told you i broke my breather pipe from the crankcase ventilation so after trimming it down my 20mm silicone hose, it fitted snug in the pipe so i wrapped some tape around it for temporary measures like so......

it done the job so ill come back to it another time. but the i finished off the breather system and here it is. i also recieved my 4 bar fuel pressure regulator so i fitted that straight away.

you can also see ive done the vacuum hose from the FPR and the re-circ dump valve to the inlet manifold with blue silicone hose.

but everything went back together again. obviously i had bolts left over which worried me but then i realised i removed alot of stuff lol so all was good. the gearbox went it ok but it was a nightmare as i only had one extra pair of hands and no engine jack. but after some cuts and bruised arms it went in fine. after i had done it all, the moment of truth was here....

.....will it start?!? after almost 2 months of being in bits will it start? CRANKED OVER FIRST TIME BABY! she fired into life.

I added engine flush after it ran up to operating temperature, then i changed the oil and oil filter and added lovely new part-synthetic oil. so heres everything tidied up but it will need a clean.

my goodness she was smooth, boosted properly, holds boost perfectly, the power delievery is spot on and it pulls like a train!! job very well done. and, i couldnt have done it if i didnt have the help of Rob Chubley and his website www.pimpmyskoda.co.uk

stay tuned though for more.

AHHHHHHHH I HATE POTHOLESS!!!!!! so there i was enjoying a sunday drive down in dorking and hit a large dig out in the road just off a round about which i didnt notice before it was to later so BANG, hit so hard because of my suspension and it being low in general.

i first thought i may have done the sump in but luckily no. instead however, i damaged the rubber bush in the wish arm.......which i only replaced bearly 2 months ago :wall:

so i guess its going to be a polybush jobbie!!! anyway one recommend anything?

Ok so my mates found a manual boost controller in his garage the other day so we decided to fit it to the vrs. after a bit of trying to work out exactly where the hell the pipes go, it was all ready to go and after some fine adjusting and testing..........she was boosting like no tomorrow. its only a tempory thing to see how much power she can produce. unfortunately i wont be keeping the vrs for much longer so i wont be permanent. but it was fantastic. she was peaking at 20 psi and the holding at a steady 1 bar. not exactly sure if thats supposed to be about right but it runs like a dream. very very powerful and pulls like a train even harder through each the gears! its a bit difficult to drive because of the boost is so high so its not very practical but with a digital boost controller i could choose between low boost which delivers 40mpg or high boost which delivers power and a grim 15mpg give or take. good times and happy days. but like i said its not going to be staying. now i know what its capable of ill be removing it. peace out people.
