Skoda Rapid due from November from 12K

Featured Replies

Even with the disguised nose, it still says Fabia with a boot to me regardless of whether its Rapid, slow or....

erm, I don't think so! :)

The Fabia is nothing like this fair enough it's got a "mask" on to make it look like a simular Skoda product.

I know this is the concept, but everything is staying almost identical...

It. Is. In. Disguise. What you see there is 95% of how it will look. I think it looks great! VW's aren't any more exciting to look at really, nor are Audis, but by all means go have a look.....

Well if the new Octavia will be bigger than the existing model, then I don't really want to know. This one (the rapid) which is said to be approximately the same size as the current Octavia will suit

  • The light looks a bit 80s kit car to me!

Anyway, it's irrelevant to me as after the Octy has died, I'm having a Guilietta.

A woosy car... It's also bloody ugly.

Some say....the Octavia is no oil painting either but I'd disagree on both issues.

That bloody rear wiper has ruined the back!

I like the look of the car i've not a fan of the rear wiper but you can remove it but the car is looking good on the road

I like to actually see out the back when reversing, so the wiper is good. Of course, you can be like the chavs and remove it, then fill the hole with bubble gum, bluetack or anything else to hand :giggle:

Im warming to the Rapid, yes its a bit generic but nicer looking than an Octavia.... I wonder how much stuff it can carry?

I'm looking forward to the Rapid - I came very close recently to getting a S/H VW Jetta, but decided to keep my Fabia for another 12 months and save up a bit more cash ... but I can realistically see myself getting one of these on HP when they're out (pending good results from a test drive, and providing I don't go all cheapskate and get another S/H car that is!)

Boot is supposed to be around 500 litres.

Must be getting closer to a proper photo now as they're running out of things to "tease"!

That badge looks better quality than the type I've just seen afixed to the front and rear of a Citigo; not much advanced from the black plastic thing that used to adorn the later Favorits.

Just read in Autocar that Skoda has announced it will make a 3 door coupe version of the Rapide.

Surely that means there will be a vrs version.

I can't wait.

Sounds good! I'd like a vrapid! :-p

Sounds like no official confirmation but if it becomes true then that will likely be my next car!

Looks OK, but unless they introduce a full estate of hatch version I wouldn't buy one. I also think Skoda are getting left behind with decent performing, yet economical, engines - no doubt we may get the likes of the new efficient Audi engines in a few years.

We will be getting the hatch version, not the saloon. The estate is already planned.

That bloody rear wiper has ruined the back!

It will be optional according to info on a Czech forum.

Thats good! a little like the Octavia's over in CZ, although Skoda UK will probrably faff around with it. good idea to make money though... :p

I loved the look of the MissionL and if the UK Rapid looks anything like that then i think they will be on to a winner, but i think looking ad the indian rapid, it looks too much like the new fabia for my liking, the rounded healights etc make it look all soft and squishy, this is why liked the MissionL so much, with the new front on it and the squared headlights, they are going back to the old fabia and octavia look, making the car look a lot "meaner", if it looks like that i think it will be more fashionable and will get better sales! in my opinion of course... :)

il make a point about "fashionable cars" people buy cars for their looks as much as anything else, and recently some companies have got it bang on with their new ranges, these arent massively expensive cars, just normal mainstream cars that have had a major makeover and its worked amazingly!

I saw one of these go past me the other day and i was gobsmacked at how amazingthey look, i think if skoda take a leaf out of kias book (however mad that sounds) they will be on the right path :)

This is because the Indian Rapid is a Fabia with a boot.

The only thing that the Indian version and EU version share is the name, apart from that they are two totally different cars.

Just got my weekly newsletter from AE, also publishing design sketches from Skoda. All details in the sketches and interior concept photo appear to match the images so far seen from other sources and the facebook detail shots, e.g. note the detail for the steering wheel controls :)
