Its so nice to see everybody been so serious over some clips, all you have to do is be carefull and they wont break omg how simple is that !!!!

  • I haven't got a Mk1 Octy, but if I did have, and needed to change the fuel filter, one thing I would be careful with, is the clips.

  • I'd watch the clips on the filter. They can be tricky !!

Just read through this thread, and I can't put my finger on what I have to be careful about when replacing the fuel filter!! :)

I'd watch the clips on the filter. They can be tricky !!

During my last service, the guys in the garage told me afterwards they'd been really careful with them, just in case, as they couldve broken them if they werent..

Mines held on with zip ties. Guess someone broke it at some point.

Nah that'll be the actual filter. We're talking about the fuel lines themselves. See they got these little clips that you have to be really ..... oh wait !!!

I did my fuel filter when I bought my Octy, and I have just done it again, 40 odd thousand miles later.

 

On both occasions, I attacked my clips with long nose pliers and a hefty screwdriver.

 

They are still happy and fighting another day!

Ooo, risk taker! It hasn't really been mentioned but those clips can be delicate.
