I'm contacting KW tomorrow or venom to see if I can get it for the price of on the house :)

Think over the weekend I'm going to replace mondeo links with new standard ones and strip my coilovers and re grease and new bump stops and top mounts.

What bump stops:

Top mounts:

oem drop links and top mounts can be found on vwspares.co.uk or TPS as hux says

FR bump stops from TPS work a treat!

Noob question tps?

Not sure if they can be replaced , maybe huxley will know.

Back ones definitely can be replaced. I did mine last week.

If only the front were as easy to get off lol (for me anyway!)

No need replace them if they come with the coilies. rear coilovers dont come supplied with bump stops so you use yours and cut it down or get shorter ones like me and biggy

Thinking about it guys if you jack your front end up so there is no pressure on the coilover and then fully wind the adjuster down I think the spring will be slack enuf for you to put this sleeve on.

Good thinking there ;)

Thanks for all this useful info lads!

I never cut down my originals ones down on the rear when I fitted my coilovers :( whoops

i mailed Weitec today about the coil slap

their reply

Hello,

please double check with your workshop the enclosed installation manual (especially page 5!). We suppose the problem comes from a wrong installation on the front axle.

anyone around Manchester spare an hour to have a proper look for me? lol

cant see that it is tbh, they do coilovers day in day out

will have to take it back or to another local garage to check

Passing the buck phrase right there!

Has your hose arrived? If i were you id fit that first before you go paying for more labour.

PS you cant really install a coilover wrong. Its fairly simple.

Thats what im thinking is it even possible to fit them incorrect :bandit:

il try the sleeve then.

so take wheel off, loosen the front adjuster (twist to bottom) so coils are at full stretch and see if i can pull the sleeve on the coil?

just to confirm hux is it defo the top 2 coils i need to cover or bottom 2?

Its the top coils mate and yeah take weight off and wind the adjust all the way down.

been doing loads of reading on other forums about coilover creaking - some posts suggest console bushes/ARB bushes

as quick fix/diagnoses i plan to grease the ARB bushes, console bushes then finally the top of the coilovers

doing this day by day to see if the noise finally goes, have ordered some spray grease.

i know im beating around the bush but i jut don't have the time to do the sleeves over the coilovers at the moment, hopefully weekend

right

had both front wheels off today, loosened the coilover down as much as it went but still the coils were too tight for me to slip the sleeve over it.

i bought some spray grease and greased up the ARB bush, console bush, front wishbone front bush and top 2 coils towards the top mount which i thought cured the creaking on test drive, then it came back lol

im thinking i need some kind of coil compression tool so it allows me to put the sleeve over the coil at the top yes?

these ones: http://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/2-PCE-COIL-SPRING-COMPRESSOR-CLAMPS-CAR-HEAVY-DUTY-31cm-LENGTH-/160736960587?pt=UK_Hand_Tools_Equipment&hash=item256cab604b

thanks guys
