Rapid Coupe and RS on the cards?

Featured Replies

According to an article in today's Autocar magazine, Skoda are working on a Coupe version of the Rapid to be launched in 2013 based around the VisionD concept car.

One of the firm's designers also told Autocar a Rapid RS was possible, "depending on public reaction to the basic car"

According to Autocar w/e 20 June 2012 "The Rapid's long wheelbase and torsion beam rear axle are said to create more cabin and boot space than in the larger Octavia" The price is also (from) £12,000.

If this is indeed the case, then my next car may be a Rapid- assuming the driving experience is as good as my Octavia.Does it have a hatchback rear end- picture is not clear?

A German take on a Rapid RS:

^ That looks like an MG 6.

Really?

Nope!

Alls they have done is added audi wheels...... will be more than that.

Missing new front and rear bumpers, spoiler, New DLR's, Zorst, Susspension etc etc

Yeah I still think it does.

Well it is similar ti an MG6 in that it's a 5 door mid size car with a sloping rear glass, but that covers thousands of models??

This is what it should look like! :)

Very good, I'd have one of those but I think the best we can hope for is a Sport spec model with those nice sports seats, 17in wheels, sports suspension etc.. that would be pretty nice.

There are two confirmed Rapids next year. The one based on the Mission L and a shorter hatch version based on the Vision D more like a Golf/A3 on size and shape. Name for the second rapid to be confirmed as yet, that's out towards the end of next year.

I hope that does turn out to be true as a true Golf sized car is something which is missing from Skoda's range. Can see it ending up more like an small estate (A3 Sportback) though.

That's what was confirmed at our last master tech meeting.

Cool, that's 2 sources then because a Skoda board member told the same to Autocar last week. Hope it really does look like the VisionD!

Likewise the overall length of our Yeti (and similar Golf V we had in 09) is about right for our needs, although the Rapid looks noticeably narrower but that would be a bonus for the narrow country lanes we often find ourselves on.

Me likey, I think I will be waiting this to come out and suffer with the Polo up to then.

If the rumours about the Mk 7 Golf are true though, I am expecting it to be either an as-yet not in production engine or a 2.0 TSI / TDI.
