Have another really annoying issue with the VRS unfortunately.

I had a pair of continentals to begin with, checked both front tyres to make sure the tread was ok. I looked at both sides which appeared to be fine. I turned the car on and moved slowly to turn the steering wheel on full lock... Got out the car and to my surprise, both of the insides where completely bald.

Went to a garage and got a pair of Hankooks as i've heard great reviews, also asked the garage to do the tracking... All was fine.

a couple of months went past and had a vist to different garage as a rear tyre was playing up. In the process they said i had un-even tyre wear at the front and asked if i would like a geometry. Went ahead with the Geomotry even though it was the second time since i had the new tyres on.

Had a look at the tyres yesterday and can see them wearing in the exact same spot as the continentals. I really can't keep affording to pay out for tyres and really hope someone knows a solution to this.

If the tracking is spot on then it sounds like you have too much negative camber, this can be caused by either running the car at a lower ride height or even by worn front bushes.

Hmmm yeah thats what my mate said. He looked at my car a while ago and said they have already been replaced with cupra bushes which shouldn't go wrong?

I'm no expert in this field so haven't got a clue.

Any chance this could be a warranty job as i got used car warranty?

Ok i have just gone through the cars receipts and can see that the console bushes were replaces on 24/02/2012 which is 12,000 miles ago

Have the bottom ball joints ever been done?

Mine had the same issue, I took it for a geo check and while everything was still in spec the camber was right on the limit, I was advised to change the ball joints as that was the only thing in there that would affect it, Got them renewed and it sorted the wear issue.

Had a look through all the history and can't see that at all. Thanks for the info. Will go to a garage tomorrow to get it checked out. Good job i have a day off

A point to note when mine were changed, Externally they were in good condition and the garage informed me they were still reasonably firm in operation, It would appear a little wear has a great effect on the overall performance

Get your four week laser alignment done, you will have major toe in or toe out. Is your car lowered? Also hard acceleration will muck up the inside of the tire. I got through 4 brand new tires in under 6 weeks due to my alignment being well out!

So has the car been lowered or not?

Even 25mm drop will cause inside tyre wear.

Post pic of your car up side on. May have had a little drop before you bought it.

I'm running a massive drop creating camber however it does not effect tyre wear that much, it will be toe in / toe out so the inside edge will be dragging as you go in a straight line.

I've tried again to attached pictures but it's won't let me. Uploader keeps failing and if i copy the image across i get a message saying 'Too short'...

No the car hasn't been lowered whatsover... After i had my first alignment and then went for the second one, the garage said it was out by loads :/

Where abouts are you based? There seems to be something about the fabia, it's not long before the alignment is out.

I'm based in Enfield. I do drive hard i suppose which could be the cause but have never had this issue with any other car :/ i've gotta book the car in to Skoda as i think i have a sticky tappet, which i'm hoping is warranty work. If it is i'll get em to look at the wheel alignment, bushes joints... Can't afford to keep going through tyres all the time which will only result in me going for part worns if it continues...

OK just looked. it's 4 months ago = just over 4,000k miles

Front left toe way out, caused possibly by hitting a kerb/ bumping up or down kerbs, making the wheels fight each other on their direction causing the scrub. Also being front wheel drive the insides will always burn out quick because they have a lot of work to do, a BMW will generally always wear out its rear tired first because it is RWD. I make a habit if getting my alignment done 2-4 times a year, ok so I spent 200 quid a year on alignment but easily save it on the fact my tyres last longer and I use less fuel. I used up 4 brand new tyres in 6 weeks because my alignment was way out, if I had botherd to get it done those tyres would have done 10+k instead of under 2k :(

^ I guess you mean front right camber? Because that is out. If the garage says nothing can be done then they are rubbish because you can correct most of it by loosening subfame bolts/top mount bolts and bottom ball joint bolts and wiggling the lot till it sits right. If its had a bump in the past, then it may not be so straight forward!

On my old MK1 Fabia VRS as follows.

I had the same problem, turned out to be one of the rear bushes on front alloy wishbone was knackered.

With the bush replaced and tracking checked/adjusted I replaced front worn tyres with new.

Emphasis by garage on keeping correct tyre pressures important, and to check once a month.

As the front bushes wearing are a common fault to my model of car, and fault is certainly not helped by those sleeping policeman road bumps.

No I deffo ment toe, the easiest way to sort camber would be to get some camber shims but do check the bushes also, woth the left toe being -0.41 or what ever it is all that is happening in a straight line is the left wheels is pointing left or right being dragged along with the cars weight ontop of it. The camber means that the car will be running more on the inside of the tyre however at speed the car pushes down due to forces etc so will be pushing the tyre flat. I will get my figures up later :)

I'd still expect the alignment place to losen off the lower cross piece and move it to split the camber across the car - as well as sorting the the easy bit which is the toeing. Camber shims might work on the rear - but exactly where would you fit them on the front?

Good question. Time to get the hammer out and manually adjust things :D

I had the same worry, went to get tyres changed and tracking done and was told that the tracking was fine and it was.......

SPEED BUMPS!!!

Speed bumps, causing a car with correctly set up suspension to trash tyres, then the suspension returns to its original settings - I don't think so, sounds like lazy, or ill equiped tyre place to me. Speed bumps, if "abused" and potholes and kerbing will cause suspension to become misaligned by slightly damaging it or forcing movement where that is possible - but when checked a few weeks/months later the suspension will still be misaligned.
