  • Brilliant ride, brilliant result, brilliant lap times, could have been up with Lorenzo if he'd been closer at the start Thank heavens he ditched Ducati

  • Lorenzo's gates at his home in Los Montesinos. This is just along from where my mother lives. BTW, I don't think rossi is past it.

Time for Rossi to retire

ERR DON'T THINK SO

What a ride and what a race if he'd not made that early mistake then he might have just gone on to win

This season is going to be awesome

Time to retire my arse.

Today was a one finger salute to the doubters

He still has it in bucket loads and he knows it again now. What a ride!

Please note that my original post was made last May when he was an also ran on the Ducati, and before any announcement of him going back to Yamaha

Hindsight is a wonderful thing

He was pretty hyped in the paddock interview so as you say he knows he's still got it. Too romantic to think he could get the championship again? I hope not. Best race ever for me was Laguna 2008 against Stoner. Stoner blitzed them in qualifying and it was all set for him to disappear into the distance in the race. Rossi had other plans though.

I'm going to borrow from Jenks here:-

Dani Pedrosa - Near the hill.

Marc Marquez - At the foot of the hill.

Jorge Lorenzo - On the hill

Valentino Rossi - He is the hill.

In the original. Gilles Villeneuve was in the Dr's place, and the other 3 names were F1 World Champions. Enough said?

What a race!, real edge of the seat stuff, Rossi at his best. But what about Scott Redding in the Moto2 race, this is going to be a hell of a season if the Losail race is anything to judge by.

Amazing stuff from Rossi. Glad to see it to be honest. Think he may have threatend the lead if hed qualified better and not overcooked it at that corner. Bodes well for the rest of the season right enough.

See that boy Marquez did rather well today!

Here begins the Marquez years lol.

Fantastic rider to watch, maximum attack everywhere.

Looks like Spain is taking over motorcycle racing too.

Rossi a bit disappointing today after the way he performed in the first race - was waiting for him to come good again towards the end, but it never happened

Being a factory rider, he shouldn't be finishing behind Crutchlow and Bradl

Let's hope it was a blip, and not the way the rest of the season pans out

Yeah. when you realise that he actually uses the elbow sliders rather than wearing them as a joke...

Sorry to you mean Bradley (as in Smith) rather than Bradl (on a Honda)?

Hondas were 5 to 10 Kph quicker down the straights. Hitting 215 mph.

Not sure that Cal has the quick gear change yet that the Hondas and Factory Yams have and that is worth a few tenth a lap.

Hopefully be a good season, just wish Suzuki were there too. Coming on Cal, more podiums!

Jerez this weekend. A track suited to the Yamaha's . Can Rossi get on the podium? Will Marquez continue his incredible rookie year? Who will finish behind Lorenzo?

By ek Moto gp is exiting!

Im off to the bsb for the qualifying this sunday at Oulton so will have to sky plus the Moto gp.

Rossi not as quick as Qatar for some reason.

Lots of crashes in qualifying.

Lorenzo, (happy birthday) looked imperious.

Marques and the Hondas in general, looked quite shakey.

Ducatis, have they finally figures the carbon chasis do not work and a carbon/metal composite at least is required if not full metal?

3. Marc Marquez (Spain) Honda 1:38.971

4. Cal Crutchlow (Britain) Yamaha 1:39.262

5. Valentino Rossi (Italy) Yamaha 1:39.300

6. Alvaro Bautista (Spain) Honda 1:39.509

7. Nicky Hayden (U.S.) Ducati 1:39.654

8. Stefan Bradl (Germany) Honda 1:39.847
