Time for Rossi to retire?

Featured Replies

I would love to see Scott Reading on a Tech 3 bike with Bradley smith .

He's going to be on a Gresini Honda and that hasn't exactly been a slouch in the last few races.

  • Brilliant ride, brilliant result, brilliant lap times, could have been up with Lorenzo if he'd been closer at the start Thank heavens he ditched Ducati

  • Lorenzo's gates at his home in Los Montesinos. This is just along from where my mother lives. BTW, I don't think rossi is past it.

  • VALE, VALE, VALE!!!

Marquez will start from the back of the grid if he collects any more naughty boy points ...

...and that just might be too late for the marshalls at the next event.

So what good would a one race ban do?

Surely he should get a lifetime ban using a 'what might have happened' logic

Anyway, I think this thread is about Rossi, there's a clue in the title ;)

By that argument, why bother having warning flags at all?

For exactly the same reason the country has laws

There will always be people who break them

Anyway, back on topic

Rossi............

I think it is a bit early to give up on Rossi yet. He may never reach the heights of bygone years as new talent takes over, but he is still a class act and good to watch.

Moto GP is a great spectacle at the moment. Rossi is still a major ingredient in the overall package.

He is indeed, Kev

I think another world title is beyond him, unfortunately, but as a spectacle he's great to watch

Brimma.

Sunday at Silverstone was truly outstanding. The racing was brilliant, but even better was the attitude of the riders when they were interviewed post race.

My younger son was there all weekend. He said the rapport between riders and fans was outstanding too. Great atmosphere.

Hope you are doing ok.

Kev

If you can't enjoy the above maybe you can enjoy this?

No Dorna won't play !

Nice little video of the wonder kid having some fun. Fingers crossed for him with only five races left.

Getting back on topic from the original post...........well after today's qualifying, old man Rossi looked like he'd got his mojo back.

Shame he missed out just by a few hundredths on a front row.  Will be interesting to see how Lorenzo starts and if as good as last race.

Hondas hitting 208 through the speed trap but I suspect they are going faster as bike still seems to be revving higher after speed trap.

Yamahas are a bout 3 mph slower, even slower than the Ducati but making it up elsewhere.   New Yam auto box seem to be working OK.

61 degrees of lean, elbow sliders,wow !

PS - Please sign the Sean Emmett petition (link on motorsport section) if you feel inclined and remember Sean's great riding style.

Really good to see Rossi on the podium after a good fight with his best mates Bautista and Bradl. Also good to watch Scott Redding bring the fight to Espargaro in GP2. Next year is going to be some year if he carries on his form.

Yes. Another good day of motorcycle racing. Formula 1 being left the shadows this year.

Scott Redding's frustration as he crossed the line in 4th was a sign of his determination to win the championship.

Glad Dany is OK, bit if a wierd one.

Bikes were hitting 336 kph ie 209 mph.

Yamaha gearbox is good but I suspect Honda box is still worth a few hundredth of a second out of many corners.

Off to Asia and Oz.

Marc looks like he could be the dominant rider now and for a while to come with his ability and the Repsol team.

Hope Ducati get better and Suzuki come back with a bang eventually.

I don't know if there was any conclusion on the cause of Pedrosa's accident. There was a suggestion that Marquez touched him and caused some kind of traction control failure that led to the fall later in the corner. It was a real shame. Pedrosa looked like he was up for it today.

Rossi's fight with Bautista was classic. He is still a star.

I think Marquez is Rossi's heir, fearless and able to make the impossible possible, I just wish Marco Simoncelli had been in the mix.

Looking like Marquez could be in trouble again. Dorna and other teams asking Honda to calm him down a touch before a serious accident happens.

Looks like he took out Pedrosa's traction control unit which caused birthday boy Danny to go into orbit two seconds later.

For me Marquez is the best thing to happen to moto gp since Rossi!

Rossi is now a businessman and is simply trying to maximise his future earnings.

Difficult to know how good Espagaro and others from Moto2 or SBK could be on the M1 bike.

Rossi is still quick yes and it looks like he will do at least another season but he is already branching in to Team Management in Moto3 but not with his half brother I gather.

What will Dani do?

We do need other teams to get up with Honda and Yamaha.  One would expect Audi now to get Ducati up there soon.

Times were improved over last year and you do wonder how much more they an improve ie lean further, aerodynamics.

Would like to see minimum bike and rider weights so you do not just get the lightweight people like the Spanish taking all 3 Grids ie all 9 riders were Spanish !

Looks like Marquez will not receive any penalty points for accidentally removing Danni's traction control wire.

Vale second in qualifying for Sepang, and 'only' a third of a second behind Marquez

Best qualifying of the year, let's hope he can maintain it tomorrow :)

Shocking race for Rossi in Japan.

Rode like a rookie and I do not mean marquez.

I take it you missed out on the pre-show where they were talking about the 340mm discs being sensitive to over and under-heating?
