vwcdpic in -05 octy without cd changer (stream HU)

Featured Replies

Hi everyone!

I have read quite a few posts about installing the vwcdpic-based cd changer/aux in mod in an octy with a stream HU.

I've built the vwcdpic circuit using the descriptions on this site, but have had no luck in getting it to work. I've tried a few different software versions (hex files) but to no avail...

I started wondering if the Stream HU have to be coded to actually connect to a cd changer?

My car has this manufactoring option code: 7A0 = Without CD changer/CD player.

The thing that got me wondering if this actually is the problem was that on the FAQ page on the vwcdpic site, it's mentioned that

...you could try messing around with the head unit coding in VAG-COM to see if that helps. So far we've never heard from someone where this turned out to fix the problem...

and on the ross-tech vag-com site (even if it's for a Vw car) I read this:

[56 - Radio]

[Recode - 07]

Look at the fifth digit in the coding (CD player/changer):

1 - Without CD Player/Changer

3 - With CD Player/Changer

Unfortunately I don't have a vag-com cable at hand at the moment so I could check what's set in my HU...

If not enabled, could it make my HU not communicate with vwcdipc chip?
