Yeti configurer adds 16inch wheel option

Featured Replies

Hmm: option to add Moon wheels and (separately for some reason) 16inch tyres in the (SE spec) in the UK. Bravo to the Briskoda Campaigners (and Skoda UK for, er, listening)... Elegance owners might be displeased though!

Must be a mistake surely? Why include 16" wheels as an option on the SE but not on the SE Plus or Elegance, doesn't make any sense at all!

Since when did the configurator make sense?

Point Taken - you live in hope though!

Hear, hear! Thanks and congratulations to TP and Expatman for starting the revolution. Persistence has paid off, it seems.

Sadly it looks like they have only included the 16" option on the SE, not the SE Plus nor the Elegance models. Can't quite believe Skoda UK would have done that!

About time :giggle:

:'( though they appear to have restricted it to the SE trim only; what happened to equality and diversity

Hey! Easy, guys? Think about it! SUK have moved!

All sorts of reasons why the option only shows for the SE at the moment. Perhaps the chap updating the Configuratoriser only had time to do that bit before the factory hooter went. Perhaps a trickle-down on the computer didn't work. Perhaps they only told the chap who does the SE bit - the S and SE+ chaps don't work on a Wednesday. Perhaps.

The main thing is that the zero-cost option is now officially on the pricelist. Result. Even if the SE chap doesn't remember that he only did half a job, even if the IT man doesn't put the computer right tomorrow, even if the S and SE+ chaps don't get the message, there's still something official on paper (well, sort of) as good case basis for 16" wheels (and, don't forget, tyres!) on anything now.

So I think a vote of thanks is due to Robert Hazlewood, Mark Fox and/or whoever at SUK for listening, and for eventually taking action, however belatedly. We can sort out the fine print later.

Interesting, seems like the SE cannot be ordered with the 1.2 TSI with manual gearbox...

Also at the bottom of list, curtain airbags, dashboard box lid, and something called region are no cost options!

I have a build date of week 30, so I might try again for 16 inch wheels...

Act quickly and you can get the 16" wheels if you want them. Be persistent and don't be put off by the first level contact at Skoda UK. You probably need to get into the Customer Relations - Executive office to get action.

Wouldn't pretty much any dealer swap wheels for you?

It's an easy way for them up bling up a lower spec model.

Very unlikely to get a dealer in the UK to do that for you.

Aren't 16" Moons only available currently on Greenline models, and with 205/55 tyres? Non-Greenlines need 215/60 tyres, hence the separate option. I'm open to correction...

Stand corrected- I have an elegance with 215/60/16 moons sitting on my drive.

Well, there you go!

I was obviously mistaken  in working from the 2012 Yeti brochure (online version) which gives this:

Yeti Elegance GreenLine II, has the

following differences

• 16” ‘Moon’ alloys

• Optimised rolling resistance tyres

(205/55 R16 91H)

GreenLine's are supposed to have 205/55 eco tyres to help reduce running costs. Not to say though that one or two may have the larger tyre fitted in error, as it does happen.

Errors? Surely not!! :giggle: Come to think about it, though, I have read the occasional story here of super-spec options turning up unannounced.

Guilty! Ordered standard SE Onyx cloth interior, received Onyx Alcantara interior with heated front seats! This was despite it being checked and double-checked with SUK by my dealer.

Seen the odd SE advertised with full leather interior but no heated seats. Not supposed to be able to get that configuration here in the UK; bit B) in the winter then.

Just called dealer, car is confirmed for week 30 build, we are now in week 28, they go firm on order 3 weeks before build week!!!

So for second year running im getting my second choice colour (bronze this year would put my order on hold for a few more months!!) but i do like aqua blue anyway!

Well the roads here in germany are smooth enough for 17s lol

Heated seats are (or were) standard with Alcantara trim. As Johan mentioned at the time, it is rare to see an SE with Alcatara or leather because, for the extra cost, you may as well get an Elegance.

Are you sure about this?

You are saying that on the Skoda Website in "Build your own" that 16" wheels are offered as an option on the SE model?

I cant see any reference to this (10th July 2012) the only wheels option is 17" Erebus.

Am I looking in the wrong place?

I would like 16" wheels for the car I ordered a few days ago - YETI 1.2 DSG SE - but have not seen this anywhere offered as an official option. But you are saying it is now on the actual skoda website?

Yes just checked myself, they have removed the option already :bandit:

would ring SUK and speak to Mark Fox and point out you had seen the option on the configarator and your aware others have the option and you would very much like 16" wheels yourself for your recently placed order; thank you.

The option was there for a day or two but now seems to have gone! You just need to call Skoda UK (0845 7745745) and ask them to include the 16" Moon Alloys with 215 60 R16 tyres as many other customers have done. They may splutter but there are so many precedents for the no cost change - Skoda call it 'decontenting' - that a bit of persistence will succeed. Otherwise come back to the forum and we will give you names and direct contact e-mails!
