5 year old vRS with only 2,500 miles!

Featured Replies

And everything probably siezed up solid from not being used

Who buys a diesel and then doesn't cover any sort of significant mileage?!

My arse that's done 2,500 miles!

Something not right, 2500k, over 5 years = 500 miles per year, I'd say it's defo been clocked.

You buy a diesel for a reason, and that's generally because you cover high miles & are looking for high MPG.

Belong to a member of the armed forces posted abroad? Mate of mine put 700 miles on a Honda Blackbird in 4 years due to overseas postings.

People who clock cars don't do it to this extent. A quick look around it will tell you. All the dates of manufacture stamped on the tyres will be just before date of registration.

Meadens are selling that car. I doubt a Skoda dealer would be selling a clocked car. It would not do their rep any good!

Yeah i doubt very much that has been clocked,i wonder what the reason is for the low mileage & where has it been parked up when not used? hopefully in a nice dry garage.

Does sound too good to be true but Meadens make a point in the desc that it has only 2500 on the clock - plus according to their site as it is less than 6 years old it will come with a 12 month Skoda warranty. Apart from the usual 30 days return policy there's plenty of time to find out if there are any probs with it.

Why do people instantly assume its a clocked car on here? lol, when i had issues with mine few comments were "its been clocked" lmao WTF

Well 2 people did anyway!

+1

I've seem a 4 year old diesel (not VRS) with 6800 miles. The guy's wife refused to drive it whilst he was overseas, so it had all sorts of problems.

Personally I wouldnt go for something that age with that miles. Id prefer an average mileage. At least that way you know its not been sat up all this time. (in reference to the 2500 miler)

£12k though?! Seems a bit expensive to me.

OY is Milton Keynes so it could be a Skoda press car maybe.

Yup sod the mileage that's a stupid price.

2.5k would weird me out though, don't think I'd even look at it if it was priced right.

HI octydan. I bought a low mileage Octy L & K from a Skoda main dealer, not only was it clocked but 10 months after i paid cash for it, i received a letter from a firm of solicitors informing me that 'my' car actually belonged to lombard north finance. SO the moral i use now is. TRUST NO ONE and check everything humanely possible.

Blackray - Thats shocking. Hope you got compensation. BTW my mat's still look like new.

Not judging my the pics on the auction page!

My caravan does 500 miles a year and sits around a lot. The recommendation is to replace the tyres every 3 years and have the brakes etc serviced yearly.

So unless its been serviced yearly and is on new rubber I'd avoid.

I know, you'd think they'd have pulled it forward out of the hedge before taking the picture!

I've seen a few listings from this dealer and they are all taken in a farm yard somewhere!

Anyone can tell if its been clocked, hook up VCDS and read the main ECU as it records the true mileage (in kms) which cannot be altered.

Putting the price aside, I would be concerned about driving a car with such low mileage at this age. I would want new tyres and a full and thorough check before considering it.

Saying the above, my cousins dad has a 1992 Renault 19 which he bought brand new and its hardly driven due to also having a company car, and in 22 years has notched up around 50K miles. One year it covered just 20 miles between MOTs. They also have a 1985 renault 11 which has covered 80K also bought by them new, but this car is currently undergoing a restoration in their garage due to rust.

I'd be worried if I bought this car, could be a lemon thats been in a dealers most of its life hence the mileage.

I once bought a 10 year old motorbike in mint condition with 7500k on it, soon found out why is it cut out and refused to start when the engine got to running temperature.

I've always much preferred to go for higher mileage cars since for this reason...

I agree with Paul007, Mines an ex MK car. Prob press car or head office car, they don't go far...... I've seen Golf V's with 1k on them when at the training centre

There's currently a 3.6 V6 Superb up for sale with similar miles and that's an 09 plate.. it too as an OY.

If my numbers are up tonight, it's mine :D
