@PC1212: Where did you read about this?

It's in Skoda's brochure - all of the 1.8TSI models are marked "existing stock only".

It's in Skoda's brochure - all of the 1.8TSI models are marked "existing stock only".

Looks like they are seriously chopping the options. If you look on the Skoda website, select Octavia, then select the performance tab you will see that there are several engines marked ** - down the bottom it says:

**Stock vehicles only. Please speak to your local retailer for more information

The engines so marked are:

1.4 80PS 5spd (don't think many will mourn that one!)

1.2 TSi 105PS

1.2 TSi 105PS DSG

1.8 TSi 152PS

1.8 TSi 160PS

1.8 TSi 160PS DSG

2.0 TDi CR 110PS DPF

So the only petrols will be the the 1.6MPi, the 1.4TSi and the 2.0TFSi

I'm gutted! My 1.8TSi DSG comes up for replacement in 15 months and I have already decided that everything else is optional but, no matter what, the next will have the wonderful 1.8TSi engine and the DSG box. BU66ER!!!

It seems wierd that the Superb range still offers the 1.8TSI 160ps in the brochure.

It's only down to the Octavia 3 coming out. Superb isn't due to be replaced for a while, so they still offer the full engine choice. Chances are in 15 months time you'll be able to get an Octy 3 with the 1.8 TSI or whatever equivalent turbo petrol they release.

There is no bigger fan of the 1.8 TSI than me, especially when matched to the 7 speed DSG and I miss mine L&K version even compared to driving the TSI VRS but something that did colour my view was the reatined value.

I often did manage to get about 550 miles of tank range out of 1.8 TSI DSG whereas 500 miles is an ask for the TSI VRS but I mainly do long motorway journeys so I miss the extra range but the fact the residual is a few percent less is annoying.

For me it is whether to get one of the last TSI VRSs, with the £500 contribution and no-VAT 17% off or spec a 1.6D DSG also with contribution and discount, add a few thigs to bring it up to elegence/L&K spec.

Want the VVT 1.8 TSI that Audit have. Even better power, torque and consumption. Would be very close to TSI VRS perfromance and 20% better consumption rather than only 10% better but probably cost the same and therefore unlikely to happen. Hey ho. Or how about 1.4 TSI twin charge or 1.6 TSI from WTCC?

That would be my guess, too. I rather imagine the Octavia will see the 1.8TSI replaced with the 1.4TSI (twin-charged version), as that's what's happened to the Golf GT (although I hope I'm wrong).
