Anyone know this car for sale? ('06 vRS, Black)

Featured Replies

Hi Folks,

I'm on the market for a replacement VRS Estate after ours was written off in an accident (not our fault I add).

Saw this on AT:

Looks in great nick but I'm *a little* worried about the after market Brembo's. May signify some heavy use and/or track use?

Does anyone know the car?

Thanks, Stu

Wow, £7K for a 6 year old 65K petrol vRS?

Nice spec or not that is expensive.

You can pick up a facelift for a sniff over £10K

I appreciate that this may be out of your budget but it should give you a sense of perspective when looking at the car you have in mind...

Thanks buddy. Appreciate the link. £ 6k is our max budget to be honest.

Our '06 plate car had 120k on the clock and the insurance company would only give us 4k for it, despite a very long a protracted series of conversations where I quoted Parker's & Glass's figures. I had the car since new and it had a tow bar and various other extra's added. As it's used as the family wagon, it gets wrecked by the kids so we're not out to spend any more than this on an estate until c18months from now when we'll be out to buy a new car which will last for the next 6 years (like the vRS did).

Dont forget that the brembo brakes will need to be declared as a modification on your insurance and that they can bump the premium nicely.

The vRS you are looking at is very clean, and well specced too (xenon's and sat nav).

However it is worth noting that there are plenty out there so if you have the time you can afford to be picky.

Some on here would see the bigger brakes as a bonus, I'm a little different, someone who is prepared to go to the lengths of spending a large lump of cash on bigger brakes simply for increased stopping power must be planning to press on where possible and as often as possible, the standard brakes on my vRS are very powerful already.

My advice would be to find a standard one.

Good luck!

Are they real Brembos? only asking because they look like 17's (do they fit Brembo's)

Price wise it's very hard to tell, i've just seen a 57 plate with more miles on (78K) (race blue estate with Xenons) go for £9.5K it was a TDi but sold within 1 week of being up for sale.

I thought it would take an age to sell at that price (was actually up at £9799) so i'm asuming whoever purchased went with £9.5K offer but they may of bought it at the forecourt asking price, I was just shocked to see the Sold sticker on it so quick. Was only at a small independant garage next to where I work too.

Diesels are still sought after so demand a premium...

It seems overpriced, 4 months ago i bought a 58 plate TFSI, 55000mls, dual climate, cruise control, jumbo box, 18" wheels, FDSH for £7200

I saw the thread title and knew exactly which vRS you were looking at :)

Petrol, manual, estates (I assume that's what your looking for) seem to be in short supply, which I guess pushes up the premium :(

I'm still looking myself...

hatchback or estate?

Residuals are fecking w@nk on these Octavia it seems

It is a hatchback, i know estates are more expensive, but it is over 2 years older and done 10000 miles more, and is almost the same price.

Totally agree with you.

I'm still trying to learn where the 2nd hand market sits. Lots of dealers trying it on it seems

Interior needs a clean but that is a bargain, still good for another 100k miles too.

But a leggy 330d is where my 8.5k would go.

Usually brakes don't bump up insurance, they make the car stop quicker! It's things that make the car go quicker that they are interested in. I used to have a diesel Focus years ago and changed the rear drums for discs, when I told my insurance it was no difference.

My vRS is an 06 and when I got a quote for Brembos I was told that the Brembo kit does not fit so they've had to modify things somehwere to get them on. Stay away from that car IMO.

After going big brakes, I wouldn't go back to normal  hell of a difference and no insurance price change either.

Going to stick my neck out here but I think they are just stickers on normal 312mm vrs brakes
