Featured Replies

Xpower can I see your reverse sensors? Where did you get the work done?

Here you go, in hign sight I would have spread them out a little more but its neither here nor there really. I think you can click on the pic to make it bigger.

Looks really well but I'm a total cluster**** at DIY so not sure I could be trusted to do the job right.

time and time again these threads come up and time and time again i can't see the point of PCP over a personal loan?

A car is a depreciating asset therefore it's an expense. PCP is cheaper pcm and you can give it back and get a brand new one with minimal hassle before the end of term and it often won't cost you any more. I wouldn't do it any other way now. I would rather keep the money than have the equity tied up in something that depreciates so heavily.

So I've driven a diesel vrs today and I have to say I thought it was excellent, the torque was superb. Only drove the manual in the end but I'm certainly considering the diesel seriously now.

Don't think I'll be buying from my local dealer though, I told them that I was well aware of competitive offers elsewhere and asked them to give me their best offer which ended up being £346 a month after a £1k deposit (500 from me, 500 from skoda). The GFV was a smidge under £8k but given what xpower is paying a month it seems way overpriced. They then refused to give me a written copy of their best deal or email it to me as "they aren't allowed"!?!

Still want to drive a petrol again and see what the difference is but the diesel really has opened eyes...

Can anyone recommend a dealer in the Yorkshire region?

Xpower, would you mind telling me where you got yours from?

I think I got lucky with mine though as when they totted it up they sold it to me at a £86 loss, don't think they will do that one again. However even if you paid a little more that I did I wouldn't of thought that would equate to £346pm. The problem is your deposit is small and you GFV is a grand ish less so you are paying for more of the car.

Consider also that mine is a DSG which is around 1k more to buy in the first place?

As far as I was aware all the Skoda dealerships use the same system to offer / calculate finance, anyone else know?

Thanks xpower. I can raise a bigger deposit if nessesary however I don't want to put pressure on myself to sell my existing car quickly. I know it's an excellent example that will fetch a good price sooner or later. If it sold before delivery of the new car I'd simply increase my deposit.

I'm pretty sure that they've quoted my finance based on the car costing circa £18k so I cannot fathom how that to £346 vs £217, given that the deposit is only 2500 quid different (£72 a month before interest). I know the gfv is less (which is good in a way) but again that should also only equate to a further £33 a month to cover so I'd expect a competitive price to be circa £320 a month.

I know it sounds daft but give Martin and Alan (the finance man) at Murray Skoda in Newton Abbot in Devon a call 01626 202205 as Alan is a whizz with the finance figures and will try and get you a deal if they possibly can , doesnt matter about the distance as delivery can always be organised or it would be a lovely drive home in yoru new car! And if you fancy a 2.0CR TDI DSG VRS with full leather, black alloys, sunroof, heated seats, bluetooth, rear sensors and spare wheel then they have one there ready to go!

For mine which is a 2.0TDI VRS DSG, black alloys, black alcantara, parking sensors, bluetooth, sunroof, spare wheel I am payiong a shade over what you have been quoted for a base manual with only a couple of extras, I didnt put no cash in as I managed to get myself the £500 Skoda contribution and also bear in mind annual milage will have a bearing on the monthly and final value, but seriously give them a call if they can do something to get you in the car they will, tell them James (the pain with the VRS sent you!!) and they they will look after you!

:punch: Ouch, bet that wasn't cheap :peek:

Saved money on the paint though :D

Pretty similar spec to mine ;)

I've confused myself now, drove both a petrol and DSG diesel yesterday. Not a fan of the DSG (but can see why people like them) but I loved the petrol so now I don't know what to do...

Heart = Petrol

Head = Diesel

Just can't decide...

Petrol. Simples.

Calculate the saving by getting a diesel, then ignore it and buy the petrol.

Lol! In terms of running costs it's not a great deal of difference with my 10k per annum, maybe £500-600 fuel & tax tops. However the depreciation is putting of the petrol, especially the way used pre-fl values are going at present.

Maybe a used petrol makes the most sense... But then I love the new black interior trim option and the carbon like dash detail which are only very recent options... Arreggghhh!

Actually not bad, I have a set monthly budget that I can afford to spend on a car so as long as it comes within that then happy days! :-)

Yes! That has made such a difference...... Its a nice spec, and with adding a secondhand Columbus it makes it even better!! :-)

I've got diesel and don't get me wrong I love it but if I could turn back time (breaks into a dodgy cher song) I would have gone for the petrol.

I haven't done the mileage I thought I was going to do. It's 3 tears old in December and it only has 22k on it at the moment
