Sad farewell

Featured Replies

Unfortunately last week we were involved in an accident, although the accident damage looked minor I am told the chassis would have needed to be straightened out. This would have been no problem until I mentioned when dialling 999 that we had sore necks. It was at that point I was told the roof would most likely be cut off in order to remove us as carefully as possible.

The car fought bravely as the fireman were stumped a number of times as how to cut through certain items, when they had the roof off they praised the build quality!

Great great car that had been kept in perfect condition up to this point! I had only reached 10,000 miles the day before hand and was 20 months old :(

Car can be replaced people can't, although sitting here dosed up on pain killers in this heat is no fun!

How many people have said that to me! I had the door open and was just about to when I was told firmly to stay still!

I forgot to add we were stationary when we were hit!

Firstly, hope you're all okay and no long-term problems.

Secondly wondering what hit you, how fast was it going? Pretty bad driving if you were stationary?

Lastly makes me not want to take my kids out in the car! And I think I perhaps ought to reconsider gap insurance...

Sorry to see that but as you have said... Metal can be replaced...

I believe it was an old Peugeot, as you say it does make you question what is important, they think the speed at impact was between 40 - 45 mph.

Where is the other car?

Where is the other car?

It knocked us about 15m into the middle of a junction, i also think by the point the policeman took these pictures it had already been taken away.

Could convert to a Skoda Octy vRS convertible ?

Could convert to a Skoda Octy vRS convertible ?

Thats what I was thinking, sad for the car, glad you are ok, your neck fine now?

Very sad for you - that was a nice motor. I hope you yourself will suffer no long-term ill effects.

Glad no one was badly hurt. Shame the car had to be opened up like that.

Firstly, gald you're OK and secondly, testiment to the build quality that you are, all the best for your recovery

Where's the damage from impact?

No wonder insurance is going up if they cut the top off for that.

Still nobody hurt is the main thing.

I echo the best wishes for your health

And also the convertible - what a project that would be :)

I've rolled a car and walked out. But hey where's there a blame there's a claim!

Wasting emergency services time when they should be doing better things.

Just sore neck is it?

Glad you are ok, along with passengers.

I must say they it was not necessary for them to make that kind of damage, but they do have the "know-how" ???? I think.

Hits like these from the back can be worse to the human body compared to front hits, specially the spine.

Once again hope you get better soon, and do get another VRS.

On another note, that front bumper with grills and lights would look nice on my non-vrs model, even the color is the same.

Get well soon.

Thank you all for the support, its been a difficult week, the damage according to the insurance valuation guy was easily reparable but I guess its better to be safe than sorry.

I had a spare wheel added when I purchased the car and am hopefully having it dropped off by the salvage company this week. It is brand new continental 205/55 R16 can send a picture if interested I wouldn't want much for it but let me know also a boot liner for a hatch I think it was 60 new but again open to offers! Around the Basingstoke area.

Thanks again for the kind posts, Chris

Glad you're OK.

Are you getting another one? If so, hang onto those items :)

Looking at getting an Audi A6 just for a change, back to Skoda when the new VRS is out I think!

Must have been a scary time, something we never have to go through..

Do hope that you are OK and that there is no after effects.

Tasty bit of kit for the salvage company.

As long as you are both OK that is the main thing, sad to see the car like that.

I bet the other parties insurance company aren't going to be impressed picking up the bill for that lot.

A fair amount of gear there for the salvage breaker to sell off.

It is a shame for a 20 month old car to be written off, for what would be a straight forward repair.
