i have a 1998 octavia a4 with 1.6 engine aee it makes me mad when i start the engine i hear a noise from the throttel and when i look the gate of the throttel is not seated and the car will not run and even i when i try to push the car to a slope and run it it runs very shaky and not smooth and the rpm goes to 2000 or 3000 i tried to clen it many times put it keep coming back sometimes the car stays ok for 7 to 10 days then it makes the same again and sometimes it happenes 2 or 3 times in the same day i wonder wht i should do the work shop reset the throttel to basic settings but it still coming back i wonder if it is the throttel or the fuel pump or the lampda sensor . may big problem is this engine is not popular in my countery so can any of u help me with this annoing problem thanks alot

You should post in the Octavia I section if it's a 1998 car

It does sound like throttle body. You need to remove it and clean it throuroughly

Open the flap and clean the edges, use petrol and a toothbrush maybe, do both sides of the flap. Every bit of carbon needs to be removed.

When escorted, turn on ignition for a while but don't start it, the car then sets the throttle
