Failure to accelerate - Scout

Featured Replies

OK - 2010 Scout TDI PD manual

Apart from a weird gitch a couple of weeks ago when the power steering cut out after reversing down the driveway (restarting the car fixed the issue) things have been pretty much fine.

Then yesterday accelerating in first gear was fine but, intermittently, the car felt as though it went into limp mode in second gear, refusing to accelaret past approx. 1,500rpm. Changing back down to first or up to third seemed to resolve the immediate issue, but it did recurr several times. No warning lights illuminated when the issue occurred.

Any thoughts? ECU glitch? ANy advice would be greatly appreciated!

It's under warranty, get it back into your local dealer.

There is a very good chance that the car logged a few fault codes when the issues occured, the dealer will be able to read these which will hopefully lead them to the possible cause.

Thanks for reply. I'll try and find a dealer, as the dealer I bought it from handed back the franchise and the next one who took it up went bust. I was thinking yes, there must be fault codes, so will follow it up.

I've never encountered an issue like this before, and yesterday evening it atrted happening in 3rd gear as well, at around 1500rpm. But it was fine on the trip out.

It sounds like an electrical issue to me which improves the chances of a fault being logged.

I'm guessing that the number of Skoda owners and the distances involved in Australia will make it more difficult to find a member with VCDS, this would at least allow you to read the fault codes without finding a dealer...

Thanks again for your suggestions. After three days of the issue, the exhaust system warning light finally came on last night, so at least the car recognises the issue. WIll head to a dealer ASAP.
