Citigo autolock/unlock. Can you or can't you?

Really?! I copied that from the manual that's been posted on this forum but I'm sure I read it in my hard copy manual too.

Just noticed your location, is your dealer MSB Skoda by any chance? I've had great service from them, and looking at the UP forum it seems there is some general confusion amongst dealers over whether autolock is possible - you could always ask the dealer to contact Skoda UK if they still think it can't be done.

Just picked up our new Citigo this morning and sure enough the manual is an updated one from the 'launch' car that I was loaned by MSB. They have obviously made some changes/upgrades since the very first cars came over................I wonder if there are any other notable differences?

  • Before I purchased my Citigo I read the manual posted at the top of the Citigo forum. I noticed it said that if you have the remote locking, auto locking can be activated. I asked for this when pla

I asked my dealer to activate the automatic locking and unlocking at the pre-delivery inspection, and checked that it had been done a few days before collecting the car on Saturday.

I very quickly found that although the car locks up OK as you drive off, the doors don't unlock when you remove the ignition key at the end of the journey, which means that if you want to go in the boot or open the back doors, you have to unlock the car with the remote or the button on the driver's door. I presume that the service department didn't go through all the necessary programming stages, and it will need to go back for them to try again. Sigh.

Also, like somebody else on here, my Elegance model doesn't have the bag hook built into the glovebox latch.

Still, these are my only two problems with an otherwise brilliant little car, and the sun is shining!!

Yeah i dont have the bag hook either on the glovebox latch :(

i thought it came with it or is it on other coutries cars?

I didn't get the bag hook either.

From my basic research a while back, it seems you do not get the glovebox handle bag-hook, the dashboard picture holder, or the underdash shelves in the UK Citigo versions.

With regard to the autolocking, I can confirm mine does lock, but not unlock. The hatch and passenger doors remain locked. I seem to recall the boot also stayed locked on my Octavia, but I am not sure about the other doors. I suppose as it is intended to be an anti-hijack feature that is not unreasonable?

The bag hook was in the brochure Skoda put online in April (SE trim and above), which is what I ordered from, so I was expecting it.

Point taken about the anti-hijack nature of the auto locking: no doubt it's a personal preference thing and perhaps Skoda in their wisdom cater for this, but the wording in the manual at the top of this forum says (p24):

"Automatic locking and unlocking

All the doors and the boot lid are locked automatically once the car reaches a speed of about 15 km/h.

If the ignition key is withdrawn, the car is then automatically unlocked again....."

I have had this feature in cars before, and everything definitely unlocked when you took the key out of the ignition (same circuit that switches off the radio etc, I guess).

Hm. Where does that leave us all then? A manufacturers change (they always reserve the right to do so), or a dealer programming error?

Countrigo - I havecjust checked the April Citigo brochure and the dashboard photographs show only the plain, non carry hook handles. No mention anywhere of them in the text either.

It's quite interesting you make the point about the on-line information as I noticed on-line configuration discrepancies 3 yrs ago when I ordered my Octavia. Back to the 'manufacturer reserves the right to change the specification' issue again!

When I ordered my 2009 Octavia Elegance, the brochure specified that it would include a full size alloy wheel and tyre. When delivered the now common can of sealant was provided. Skoda claimed they had emailed all dealers first thing on the Monday morning amending the spec just a couple of hours before I signed the pre-agreed order that had been negotiated by telephone on the preceeding Friday. After a long period of negotiation I did finally get the alloy wheel and tyre, but Skoda kept the can of sealant and compressor!

CortinaGT - I fully accept that the manufacturer holds all the aces in these situations, and well done for negotiating the wheel and tyre, although you shouldn't have had to!!

On page 20 of the Citigo brochure I downloaded in April (on the first page it says "Effective April 2012" and on the last page it says "Edition: UK 04/12"), the standard equipment list of the SE includes: -

"Glove box - cover with bag holder (hook built into glovebox catch)"

And then (my particular interest), on page 22 it says that the standard equipment of the Elegance is in addtion to that of the SE (and S).

At the end of the day, like with the auto locking / unlocking, it will be what it will be, but at the very least imho an explanation would need to be provided as to why the item or service provided is not as advertised.

Countrigo - Just a thought - have you by any chance checked the latest on-line brochure to see if there has been an amendment?

When I collected our car, my wife, the salesman and I tried to find the elusive hook! Only on examining the manual did we see where it was supposed to be and realised it wasn't!!

CortinaGT - sorry, haven't been able to post for a couple of days. Yes, I did check and it's still in the latest online brochure. My dealer agrees that it "should" be there, and is querying it with Skoda. Tbh I am expecting at the end of this a "Sorry, the brochure's wrong" type response, but it's just possible that Skoda are going to send out a load of upgrade kits for us all!!

I am taking my car in on Saturday for the auto locking to be re-programmed. I'm not expecting a result at this visit - this will basically just be me proving what I am saying and them running the routine again. However, when they find that re-doing what they did before doesn't have a different outcome, I am hoping they will escalate it to Skoda and the one person in the world who knows their way round this will tell all the service departments how to do it properly. Loads of cars have this feature: it can't be that hard.

Countrigo - If the attempt at a reprogram does not work, maybe all that is required is some revised code by Skoda's software developers!

Good luck and we look forward to your update!

got mine booked in for tomorrow for the locking/unlocking

will be interesting to see what happens with the hook

Got told today that auto lock and unlock cannot be done due to new model revisions.

Checked my handbook and the comment noted by others on page 24 is missing. I guess they have already revised the citygo spec!

Great, I'm at the garage now, so we will see :(

Edit: i am now back home, it seems that it has been done, hear it lock at about 10mph, didnt hear it unlock when i opened the door though

Hey elegance, does yours have the comments in page 24?

I suspect that the early cars didn't have it mentioned on page 24 and the new factory fresh cars do????

Hey elegance, does yours have the comments in page 24?

Sorry for being thick, but which bit on page 24? :)

Page 24 of the owner's manual states:

Automatic locking and unlocking

All the doors and the boot lid are locked automatically once the car reaches a

speed of about 15 km/h.

If the ignition key is withdrawn, the car is then automatically unlocked again. In

addition, it is possible for the driver to unlock the car by pressing the central locking

button or by pulling the door opening lever.

Upon request you can have automatic locking and unlocking activated by a

ŠKODA Service Partner.

That bit! :)

I think it's the other way around, newer cars don't appear to have the ability to have the locking activated and thy are missing the p24 comment!

Well................my dealer loaned me one of their launch cars prior to ours being delivered. The launch car couldn't have the locking activated and didn't have it mentioned on page 24 of the manual. However, our seemingly factory fresh 5dr Elegance with various options does have it activated and has it mentioned on page 24 of the manual. I hope this clear!

Lol how very strange! Ahh well it's a feature I will have to live without.... I guess I will be using my finger to push that button now! :p

I picked my car up 1st Sep but the dealer held onto it for a good 3 weeks/since second Friday in August, plus I do have that page 24 bit in my manual my manual is dated 5/12 so May 2012

Did you ever get this sorted out?
