These days I don't have that much time, I desperately need to solder my wife's ipod connector as one of the cables has come loose in the car due to movement in the glove-box. I have known this for a week, but hopeful I can sort it this weekend

.....or teach the wife to solder ;) ;)

lol, I could try that but I know what she would say

6000k 55w canbus friendly HIDs with canbus friendly super bright white LED sidelights

Mike fitted mine for me a couple of months ago, but for some reason did not need coding, the only small problem I have had is when I go to full beam and strait back, sometimes one of them does not come on and shows a bulb out warning, solution pull over and turn off lights and turn them back on.

Just need to get some brilliant white high beam bulbs fitted as I found the OME ones a bit yellow, oh and matching side lights

Just replaced one of them recently and used a tip I noticed on here about removing the lugs off the side light holder now I can change the bulb just by removing the back cover and pulling on the wire

I keep saying that -- until the next little project I think of. Will drop you a PM!

Mike

LOL

I think I said that about 2 years ago as well Mike - short of going down the JPS route I am running out of bits to upgrade

http://www.ebay.co.u...=item3f00860f2c

These have halved in price since I got them! ARGHHH! Great value at £28.99. Two day delivery, with great feedback from the seller. Both my kits came from here, and andyvee has also just bought one of the same for his Octavia. These are a better kit than a lot of others as they have metal based bulbs. This item is the right one for your Octavia, and with the mini-ballasts, everything will be totally hidden and waterproof inside the casing of the headlight unit.

DO NOT get canbus friendly variety. Fit this one and get the car coded for xenons.

Mike

I have these two with led side lights http://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/2-x-8-LED-501-T10-W5W-WEDGE-CANBUS-NO-ERROR-SIDE-LIGHTS-/290600994689?pt=UK_CarsParts_Vehicles_CarParts_SM&hash=item43a92b4781 and Ring xenon max high beam bulbs

Middle of next week or Tuesday night :sun:

Soldering done and it was a bitch to do

All my bits arrived today. Need to get some nuts and bolts to attach the ballasts to the inside of the headlight housing and then I'll have a go at fitting them this weekend

I used double sided tape

Good shout, have asked the misses to pick some up from the garage she works at tomorrow

99p for a roll from the pound shop for heavy duty stuff

Mike used heavy duty velcro strips

That's a good price. Hopefully she can get me soe for free if not off to town at the weekend

Dont forget the ballasts actually fit in the gap at the bottom of the headlights not in the removable cover, remove the whole headlight from the car remove cover and then the bulb, you will see a slot at the bottom looking inside the bit where the cover covers, fit new bulb and connect all wires, put tape on ballast and slide it into slot and press down, push any extra wires into slot, and refit headlight.

Use new bulb canisters to store your old ones.

Cheers Skippy, will take a picture and maybe do a how to guide for the future

Have also picked up some velcro thanks to a handy tip from Mike

what is standard rating of the xenons, from factory?

are they 4300k?

i get a feeling they're only 4100k or something.

they not as bright as say the honda accord euro, or other manufacurers.

I thought 4300k, but may be wrong

I'm on the understanding it is 4300K too...

I like the tools you plan to use, you may also need an orange screw driver

Hehe, my boys hammer could come in handy ;)

That's the thing - there is no definate/factual answer. The globes themselves don't state wat kelvin they r.

I've always been under the assumption that stock Xenon was 5000K.

Anyone know which the red wire should connect to and the same with the black please. In the cluster they are obviously different :(

Don't worry, found it eventually on here hidden in a post

Brown is earth in the headlamp unit (as it is in most places on modern cars)

Cheers Andy though, should really have known, lol
