the drivers side tyre has the carcass showing through where it has been kerbed by previous owner the car was not washed previous too inspection so not evident

cont:

it has acquired a dent on the c pillar also post inspection

have been told by garage that there is a delay on skoda badges to replace the water damaged originals

there is a vehicle inspection report 'hidden' in the owners information advising replacement of the headgasket due to oil in coolant though this has not been done this inspection was carried at the same time as the service but i was told nothing when collecting the car

the passanger window glass has been scratched heavily in multiple place also post inspection

going into garage to tear service manager new a?"^#hole if no luck or decision tomorrow i am going to return it under the 30 day return policy

what is your opinion

Your best bet is look for another Fabia thats in good nick :).

I Agree with Chanser here. I would give that car back and source another one, maybe from another dealer depending on what happens when you speak to the manager. it sounds like the one you have bought could have been a rental vehicle somewhere along the line and has suffered some abuse.

How many miles has this fabia done to break a headgasket?

Yes - reject the car and go absolutely mental at them!

Phone Skoda UK as well and register the complaint with them if you can. It may help.

went into garage not willing to sort out any of the issues except from the shoddy valet skoda uk not interested said it was up to the garage concerned to remedy these problems also they seem to have forgotten about the breakdown cover supplied with the skoda approved used vehicles scheme

anybody got any good ideas where i can go from here i like the car and the issues are mainly cosmetic which i can live with but i dont think the garage gives a damn as they now have my money:( :(

Tell 'em you want your money back under the 30 day deal - you don't have to give them reasons - ******s ! :(

Never ever ever take no for an answer from a garage. Especially if their service desk is close to the showroom, as they really don't like a scene... ;)

Skoda UK do have a point that it's the dealer's fault, and judging from the descriptions you give then it does seem to indicate poor pre-delivery checks. However, if it's one of their franchised dealers supplying cars in shoddy condition then they should be made to care - it won't do their reputation as

car manufacturers any good.

Tell the garage it's in an unacceptable state and you will return it to them 14 days after you bought it from them (in exchange for a full refund) if it's not rectified to your satisfaction.

The breakdown cover is something that is done from first registration, and used to last for 3 years, so you get the balance of this if you buy a used car.

If you have the fabia with skoda finance I would speak to them as they technically own the vehicle

Strange response from Skoda UK as I found them quite helpful when I needed them.

You are entitled to the 30 day exchange! They've fobbed you off in the hope that you will go away.

If you want to keep the car, get the garage to sort out all the problems especially the head gasket issue.

Like Rob said make a scene if you have to...

tried threatening to return the vehicle told they wiil not give refund and only way to get money back is to go to my solicitor i am not amused!

tried causing a scene but the service manager got p****d off and started getting quite aggresive he was right out of order

Consult with Citizens Advice or Trading Standards.

They might act differently once they get a solicitor's letter, it's a good investment but one that you don't want to have to use.

Personally, if my service manager got aggressive when I told him I wasn't happy, and that I'd need to

take legal action to get anywhere, I'd:

1. Make a complaint about the dealer to Skoda UK.

2. Take that legal action just to call their bluff... :D

If you persist, you will get somewhere - they expect young people to be clueless and naive, but prove them wrong... :D

Rob.

What's the dealer's name and phone number, we should all call up to enquire about the 30 day return policy on used vehicles ......

Just checked the skoda uk website and it's a 30 day EXCHANGE promise, not a refund. My mistake. It says to contact your local dealer for full T&Cs.

going into CAB tomorrow and will get solicitors letter sent cheers for advice the dealer will be named and shamed once this has been sorted

They maybe could refuse you if used Skoda Finance or another company as they own the car. If so write or phone them stating the problems and they will get rid of the car for you. I have found Skoda UK very good when sorting out problems. I wouldn't have taken no for an answer. Go back in an annoy the guy immensely by keeping calm, even if you need to bite your tongue! Say that under the terms and conditions of the 30 day garrentee I am entitiled to a new car as this one is not up to scratch. One possibility does the 30 day thing have a 1000 mile limit on it? If so you'd have to reject it going through sale of goods act. www.whatcar.co.uk has sample letters to download.

The dealer is legally obliged to sort out the car or they must give you a full refund under the Sale of Goods Act. This is if it does not come up to the standards/descriptions under which it was sold.

I dont think the 30 day exchange thing includes a refund, its exchange to the value/higher value etc.

What a bummer when all you want to do i enjoy your new car!

Can you prove the tyre was damaged when you first took delivery, because if so the car wasn't in roadworthy condition? Also the report that the head gasket needs replacing indicates that the car was arguably not in a fit condition for sale. Go for legal advice asap. Apart from the CAB, you could - perhaps even should - take advice from Trading Standards. In the meantime let the dealer know what you are doing, preferably in writing, and copy to SkodaAuto UK.

The poor condition of the vehicle inside indicates they don't care, or just have a poor valeter. I found some bits 'n' bobs under the rear seat squabs - but not much!

So, concentrate on the mechanicals and the tyre, because it is just possible you missed the body / glass damage when you inspected it - I found some scratches I'd missed on the two inspections of my Octy before buying it - including two scuffed wheel trims and scratching to the rear bumper.

You say you have an annoying tick from the right side of the engine bay... my Octy has this too, but I only notice this when outside the car - appears to run in time with the ignition - anyone know what this is?

I found Skoda UK helpful too when I needed them - insure you do not loose it with them or the dealer - keep calm! And write everything down and make sure you get all the names of the people you deal with too.

Num

AFAIK, the ticking noise is hydraulic tappets, and is either normal or everyone's car is knackered... :D

Rob.

There are several possible sources of ticking on Octys, not sure about Fabs. Some of them are:

- injectors

- hydraulic tappets (but you wouldn't expect to hear these except on startup after a longish stand)

- VVT valve

The classic source of ticking noises used to be timing chains, but as we know those don't apply here :)

Nah - don't think its any of those peeps. This "clicking" sound comes from a black box mounted on the offside wing IIRC

Is it a bomb?

:D

Rob.

Hope so - always wanted to go out with a bang! Missus ' will be happy to - house paid, debts paid, big lump 'o' cash from the company!!!! Probably planted by the dealer - I've given 'em a hard time since I got the car!

You might want to complain to Skoda UK about that... ;)

Rob.
