Fabia acceleration opinion

Featured Replies

Hi

I have been reading a lot (and hearing a lot) about the Fabia vRS and was wondering if some of you might be able to help answer a few queries i have before i test drive the car later this week.

The official figures state that the 0-60 time is 9.5 secs but i read a lot on the net saying that this figure is misleading and that it may be at least a second quicker than the figure suggests. Does anyone have any thought on this?

How do you find the acceleration between gears? Does it need to be revved a lot?

HOw would you rate the handling?

Have any of you installed new seats as the ones i sat in at a recent motorshow were somewhat poor. I think they were the standard fitted option.

All the above is based on un modified cars.

Does anyone have any links to sites where i could read more about modding the v

vRS (is this aka the Furby?)

Any other snippets of info would be greatly appreciated.

Thanks for your help.

Cheers Dev.

What kind of chip have you got installed? What increases did you gain i.e. bhp etc. Do you have a link?

I'm new to all the car modding game so please bear with me if my questions seem amateurish.

100bhp to circa 150bhp - Jabba ECU remap with other remap "aids" ;)

Most roadtests get 8.2 - 8.5 seconds, which seems right to me. Car is decently quick up to about 90ish, then it tails off. Ingear performance is clearly its strongest attribute - phenomenal.

Handling isn't too bad, not great, but not that many modern cars are these days. Quite softly sprung, so lots of grip, but also a bit of body roll, tradeoff is nice ride quality though.

Welcome

Have a search through the forums, the Fabia section in particular. You'll find most of the vRS's attributes covered in there

I would agree with mid 8s to 60s although it's not the car's strongest point.

Suffice to say most owners on here are more than happy with their choice, me included :D

Hope you enjoy the testdrive.

Your cars got AIDS

There are no official Skoda options. When you say "somewhat poor", could you please advise in what respect?

i find the seats fantastic the support you very well they are good on long journys the position is very good only bad thing is they are so easy to get dirty

:iagree: One of the best seats Ive been in, its an allrounder, good for long journeys, but also holds you well in corners...

As for the colour, I love it, wouldnt wanna change it, not hard to keep clean if you use a bit of common sence, 8500miles and mine look brand new ;)

yep the next best i had was in a p11 primera sri i really liked them seats

Definately, the in ggear performance is staggering. The torque really does kick in for when those 30/40 mph roads turn de-restricted :D

In gear grunt is amazing.

When i sat in them while the car was stationary the seats seemed firm enough and ok with respect to the comfort. What i was expecting, and perhaps hoping, was to feel like the seats were hugging me. The side bits what ever they are called seemed to be too far apart almost so that i couldnt even tell they were there. Maybe the seats fit the more rounded "paid for" gut without being to cheeky. Colour was probably not my first choice either. HOwever, would be able to live with it as i would be sitting in the seats and not looking at them.

well you must be very thin then as im only 13 stone 12 and 6'1" and im ok in them they dont want to be tight

what type of car are you coming from ?

I agree. If you want proper hugging seat you'd have to go with recarro or something. The ones in the Furby are a nice mixture of comfort and support.

Wait till you hammer it down a twisty road, and then you'll know what i mean...

I have a ****E 206 at the moment. not through choice. its my dads old car. aye i am a wee bit shorter so hence the seats felt as though there was no support at all.

i think i want something that hugs. kind of like the new golf gti's seats

I found them very supportive indeed... much more so than its sister car the Ibiza FR. However, I am not exactly lightweight ;)

Anyone who complains they cant feel the side bolsters must indeed be very skinny :p

Ditto. I've been looking at both cars this weekend with a view to buying. The "chairs" in the Seat are comfy enough, but the vRS seats are better for me. They feel like the one's in my old 306DT in fact.
