Just Got a Road Angel 2.....Anyone know How to update???

Featured Replies

Just Registered it, now have to wait 24hours to use it :(

Has anyone got one, as the updating instructions are not in the book :(

Cheers

Steve

Go onto their website and download the software for it, then plug into USB port on PC and run from the desktop icon.

Also, mine worked within about an hour of registration.

Just reg'ed mine too , 24 hour wait!!!!!!

When downloading the software did anyone get a pop up saying something like ' this software is not type registered and could possibly harm your computer now or at a later date?'

I carried on anyway but am a little alarmed,

Steve

Steve dont worry about that message, everything will be fine as its a trustworthy site. Be wary of other sites though.

UPDATE: So having updated my subscription on Sunday, it still wasn't working this morning, Wednesday - so I emailed a complaint and they asked for precise details. It still isn't working this evening so I've emailed them screenshots.

It STILL won't update this evening and there's no further response from Blackspot either re this problem.

Based on this experience I suggest anyone seriously thinking of purchasing a Road Angel might do well to consider alternatives...

ADDENDUM

I checked my emails at work about 17.50 before coming home and there was no response from Blackspot - I typed the above prior to downloading my emails, then forgot to download. I now find a response timed at 17.56 this evening as follows:

Have you any firewalls on your PC? If you have these will need to be disable or set to allow road angel to come through. You may have added service pack two to your computer if you have done a windows update and this will have put on a windows firewall. If it will help you can call us on 01327 855586 when you are in front of the PC with the road angel connected and we will talk you through the problem

Don't you find the concept of having equipment that needs the firewall disabling to update its software rather peculiar and certainly disturbing? In any case it still doesn't work even if NIS2004 is set showing "Security - Off; Personal Firewall - Disabled; Intrusion Detection - Disabled".

The manual is silent on the matter of updating merely saying "The updating procedure comes with its own detailed instructions, these are not supplied in this manual"

But there's no help files or other instructions I can find even after navigating to the program folder having found nothing in the "start" menu. Does anyone else have this problem?

what was wrong with it????

what was wrong with it????

Too many false alarms, it kept reading camara's in parallel streets which is a b'stard in central London.

Update - email to Blackspot:

I've now discovered

http://www.blackspot.com/downloads/docs/ra2/NortonPersonalFirewall.pdf on

http://www.blackspot.com/support/

So why was Norton already recognising the Road Angel program - though very

few others - and why had it been set to "block all" - unlike any other

programs there?

I seriously suggest you update you instructions to make the whole situation

of using a Road Angel much easier to understand.

While we're communicating would you please advise how erroneous camera

locations are advised to you. I know the procedure for ADDING locations, I

know the procedure for DELETING locations off my OWN Road Angel, but how do

I get corrections such as the phantom camera in Gloucester that has NEVER

been there - at least in the last three years when I've been commuting along

the road in question daily? And no, it's not picking up a close-by either -

there are no other roads close by.

Note "beeftech" you merely need to get the Norton settings correct not disabled anything - though I still don't know why mine had only recently started playing up. NIS was installed last year...
