Did anyone get 3 years free servicing with their Blackline?

Featured Replies

Hi folks,

In the middle of some hard haggling with the dealer yesterday I asked 'I take it I get 3 years free servicing as I'm taking out the 3 years PCP with the £500 Skoda deposit?' and his reply was 'the Blacklines aren't included on the 3 years free servicing offer'.

It's only now I'm thinking about it and it seems a bit fishy so I wondered if anyone who has recently ordered a Blackline has got the free servicing included in their deal?

Cheers

Blair

I ordered mine on the 1st Sept and got 3 years free servicing and the £500 deposit. looks lik they are trying to pull the preverbial wool over!!!!!!

B@ll@cks,

I take it though that as I specifically asked for it and was lied to by the Principal Dealer then I am perfectly entitled to demand it as it's part of the Skoda offers advertised nationally?

I'm getting the 3 years servicing as well and the £500.. Taking out a little VW finance on top of my trade in, think thats why i'm getting the 3 years servicing and £500 and also the VAT off.

From Skoda page on Blackline.

''

3 years or 30,000 miles free servicing (whichever comes first). Terms and Conditions apply. Available when purchased with Solutions or Hire Purchase.

Thanks guys,

I've emailed the link and asked them to verify wether I'm entitled to it or not. I'll let you know the outcome.

I'd walk away and go to another dealer personally. Either they know bugger all, or we're trying to do you out of 3 years servicing. Either way, not good.

In a nut shell.... you get it!

It's only the SE Connect that isn't available with the deposit contribution and free servicing.

Yes. I ordered mine yesterday and included 3 years free servicing.

It's a shame it's three years free servicing rather than three free services.

The deal is only for three fixed services (every 10,000 miles or 12 months).

It means that if you are doing more than 10,000 miles a year it'll be a lot less than three years of free servicing.

With my mileage I'd have used them all up in the first year!

Three variable services would be much better as this is potentially free servicing for 60,000 miles!

Still, with a fixed service costing £129 that's still £387 worth of servicing so a nice little incentive.

I was disappointed with the service plan. Although you get three services it only includes an oil change at 12 and 36 months, one pollen filter at 36 months and one brake fluid change at 36 months.

Having queried it you do not get any fuel filter, air filter or spark plug change. The 24 month service is an inspection only and doesn't include an oil change.

Not all its cracked up to be.

The "inspection service" includes fresh oil and a filter.

It sounds like an inspection service should be less, it is in fact more thorough than the 10,000 and 30,000 miles services.

So you are getting three oil changes/services.

Considering all Octavia's come from the factory set to variable servicing then I'm assuming the dealer needs to change it to fixed once they know you have signed up to the 'three years free servicing'?

Knowing most dealers they'd forget. You drive up to 2 years/20,000 miles on variable before being prompted by the car to take it in to be serviced, at which point the dealer tells you that you have one year or 10,000 miles left before your three years free servicing expires - which is basically one (fixed) service.

Does this then mean they'll prevent you from having your third and final free service because you are outside of the 3 years / 30,000 miles limit?

I was told that there was no penality for early repayment of the finance deal so it seemed a great deal as I intend to pay the finance off very quickly. I haven't signed the paperwork yet but I will check the T&Cs carefully.

Yip, I'm not impressed. It was their 'dealer principal' who told me that, the same person who spoke the words 'the Blacklines ARE NOT VAT free' earlier on in the day when trying to sell me their petrol vRS demo. The same chap might I add sold my father in law a VAT free Blackline with 3 years free servicing 12 days ago.

I've bought 4 vRSs from this dealership, they are normally impeccable and totally trustworthy. I think an email to the owner may be needed. I'm all for dealers trying to get themselves as big a profit as possible and haggling hard with the buyer, but when it comes to blatant lying that's not on.

So I take it this is what you get with the 3 years free servicing with your new vrs or is this what you get if you purchase a servicing plan from the dealer?

That is what came with the finance package. I took it out to get the free servicing but paid it off three days later. Total cost was about £200 for arrangement and settlement fees.

That sounds good, exactly what I was planning on doing. Was it easy to repay in full, any issues ?

No, just a 5 minute phone call.

You can save some of the settlement fees by paying it of in two chunks. Call up and make an overpayment of nearly all the balance. Then when you call up to make the 'settlement' payment, the penalties are calculated on the now very small balance instead of the larger one.

The settlement fee was set at £125 and the arrangement fee at £75.

I seem to be getting confused here. My VRSs have always had variable service. As my new Blackline (when it gets here) comes with the offer does this mean it will have to be on fixed or can it stay variable & would that then mean you will only get one service.

If you go fixed for the 3 yrs could you then switch to the variable at the end or once you've started are you stuck with it.

I'm guessing that you'll need to ensure the dealer sets the service intervals to fixed on delivery, otherwise you won't get your three free services within the three year limit.

The fourth service at 40,000 miles (or fourth year) will be paid for by you and you can then request that it is set to variable servicing.

My query stemmed from the fact that most dealers aren't even capable of removing the suspension chocks before handing over the keys so what is the chance they'll change the service interval from variable to fixed?

Most people won't realise until the car prompts you for a service, by which time it will be too late to get in all three free services.

I'm sure if you complain to Skoda that the dealer didn't set the service interval to fixed then they'd help out by extending the servicing deal, you'd hope!

Dealer got back to me today. Turns out I do get the 3 years free servicing, he blamed Skoda for not making it clear, pffft.
