New Citigo steering wheel and gear stick

Featured Replies

As with the Fabia/Roomster and Yeti/Superb the Citigo will be getting the new Rapid-style steering wheel and gearshift levers, I guess from week 45 builds.

Here's the 3 spoke one:

I wish they did a leather 4 spoke option.

Have that in the Yeti and it's better for my personal requirements.

I don't like a third spoke right at the bottom.

Presumably the Fabia leather four spoke would be fitted if I decide to pay something daft like £200+ to change it.

Does anyone else get a little annoyed when they change the spec so early into a cars production? It kinda makes it feel like all of the Citigos purchased in the last 6 months are already "dated" and could be seen to be in attractive to future buyers when selling second hand. Almost like you are penalised for buying early!!!

"Un-attractive" - thanks iPhone!

Normally the value goes up if something is more unique :)

So, lets just hope they didn't change it due to a problem.

It's now a collector's item... :D

For heavens sake..

Most buyers of a second hand car have no idea of small changes in spec and cosmetics apart from the obvious facelift changes.

And they probably aren't interested in the slightest.

Easy CFB. I think I have a very valid point. You say "most buyers", well I would say people using a forum aren't "most buyers". We are slightly more clued up than the average buyer and therefore if people from the forum were looking to buy a second hand citigo, a change like this could make older steering wheel cars more unattractive. That's all I'm saying.

The other point I made is that the car is barely 6 months old and changing the steering wheel is a pretty significant thing to do, hence those who drive with the older steering wheel may feel that the car is a little "dated" before its even old.

No need for the "heavens sake".

I am. :D

Doesn't look like any biggie change or deal to me having compared pics of each. If that's a chrome strip on the centre spoke I would be as well pleased to be without it. Might just be a distraction.

Chrome, and the wheel looks thinner now, as with the Up and the Miiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiii. I'm glad I got in early.

I like the new wheel and is it just me or does anyone else think it looks like the one on the Jaguar XF :D

Agree the new wheel looks much better; I have been wondering since launch when this Rapid component would make its way across to the Citigo, as the old 2009 wheel design, to me, looked out of place.

Hoping if other posts are correct, it's also going in the Fabia; I've just placed an order for an Monte C TSI.

Well maybe the heavens sake was a bit OTT but when I related to most buyers, I was referring to the huge numbers who are not members of forums and therefore really wouldn't be aware of these subtle changes in spec.

You only have to look in the Spotted section to see how many spots are not replied to by the owner of the spotted car, indicating the owner is not a forum member, but they have plenty of views.

Its a steering wheel ! I don't care if it has 2 spokes, 3 spokes or 4 spokes ! Or what it looks like to be honest ! The one in mine is round and looks fine to me :)

I think the point was being missed..I said "get annoyed when they change the spec so early in production".

This is not limited to a steering wheel, the Citigo or Skoda. General observation about cars.

I don't think 99% of people would know or be bothered that the steering wheel has been changed :)

I think only geeks like us will realise ! lol

  • 1 month later...

Anybody heard or seen update on this? My build week is wk50 at this stage for a 60ps Elegance. Hoping for the rapid style steering wheel.

If its just cosmetic I doubt theres a problem but some steering wheels are much better than others. I love the small thick rimmed stering wheel in the Fabia but my mates wife has a Proton Savvy and that steering wheel hurts your hands!!

I'm a week 50 build as well

Is this definitely the wheel we will get

Kind of think its looks better than the early wheel

I personally think its a very minor thing, it's only a steering wheel...I'd be very surprised that someone looking to buy a second hand citigo would feel its dated just because of the steering it had...it would probably be more surprising how many people would just shove on a horrible wheel cover on it anyway lol... I can't remember auto-trader ever having a search filter for the type of steering wheel lol

Maybe i'm biased but i really like the "old-style" steering wheel in my Citigo - it's lovely to drive with.

When will this new steering wheel arrive in the metal so to speak? March time?

My sister has a car on order which will hopefully have the new wheel and gearstick. Delivery estimated in February.

I was under the impression that all models with the small leather pack after week 48 builds will get this wheel

Mines on track for week 50

Mine is estimated to arrive in February, maybe earlier. I really like the new design better, it seems much more modern. Fingers crossed :)
