Trip Computer Not Working on Maxidot

Featured Replies

Hi, chaps,

My maxidot display is just showing the icon of the car outline - no trip computer functions at all. The button on the steering wheel which normally opens the maxidot menus is not functioning; no phone connection etc. etc.

I've recently made some minor tweaks in VCDS, but nothing, I think, which would have affected this. Any ideas???

Many thanks.

Hi Ned,

I work in IT.

If something stops working for no good reason one of the first things we ask is, "what did we last change?"

If we can't see a silly mistake we put things exactly back to how they were and test again, it would not be the first time that an innocuous change has unintended results!

If there is no silly mistake then my next port of call would be to change everything back to what it was (with the VCDS), assuming that you remember everything that you changed.....

The picture of the car normally indicates that something is open. The doors are pretty obvious in their representation, however the hatch and bonnet are also covered but their indications are less obvious.

Open the twindoor fully in hatch mode, and close it again. Now do the same with the bonnet and see if this causes the car pictogram to disappear.

You, sir, are a flippin' genius! I had run an output test which opened the hatch and I forgot to manually close it later. Remind me to buy you a pint next time I'm in Dorset. Cheers!

At least its sorted for you.

If we can't see a silly mistake .....

Well done to mannyo in spotting the silly mistake.

I will add "check boot is closed" to our checklist when our code misbehaves! ;)

If it showed the picture of the car and the boot was not fully closed I would have though that the "boot" section would have been high lighted to show that it was open. If not. Why not?
