Rainsport 2's

Featured Replies

Are they any good? They are not the most expensive of tyres but generally seem to get a good review.

My local tyre dealer/fitter is having a 25% discount on all tyres so thought I might go

for it in time for the damp/slippy roads.

I've got them in 18" on my VRS and they seem quite good to me, but I don't drive the car hard as it's just my family car and I always have my young son with me when I'm driving. I've certainly had no issues with grip in normal driving and they're not particularly noisy and haven't impacted the mpg.

Apparently they are out of stock for RainSports !!!! Bummer

Alternative is Hankook K117's, no idea about these - any recommendations?

Never mind, gone to another dealer as I think I'll stick with recommendations/reviews and the the RS 2's

You won't find a better tyre in the wet

Agree with the above comment and they are pretty good in the dry also. They dont wear that amazingly well but I guess you cant have everything. Overall, they are very good value for the money they sell at imo.

The tyre dealer said that they don't wear well, but I don't drive like a lunatic - well most days!

Correct. Based on the tyre tests I've read the rainsports do exactly as they say on the tin - in the rain they're the best. They fall behind the others in all the other areas though..

From the experience of someone thats run them on the same cars as other tyres ie mainly Toyo Proxies, Michelin Pilot Sport 3's... id say they do the rest of the stuff pretty well, comparatively. Ultimately, Id rather have the wet weather grip the RS2's provide. :)

I find they require a little bit more steering in to get the same result so they feel less sharp but if you throw the wheel over on a wet road it is really nice to know that the whole car is going to follow !

I agree ^^

Just replaced the rainsports with some Kumho's and felt the car turned far better more sharp and responsive with the new tyres.

Rainsports are great in the wet but then.... most modern tyres are decent and you wouldnt go nuts in the wet well i dont.

I would prefer a non directional tyre on th octavia personally.

Wow, that is some tread. It's the sort of thing I'd expect to see on a Massey Ferguson!!!

Looks like they'll do the job,

I have them currently and they are wearing better than my previous tyres. Around 9k and plenty left.

Vreidestien (sp) ultrac sessanta's on front got around 9k

Goodyear assymetric got 3k (yes - 3k!!)

Kumho were going ok until they split right across tyre width on both front tyres!! Never again...

I'm getting 4 Falken FK 452s fitted on Friday morning.

Had Kumho's last time and they provide NO GRIP AT ALL in the wet - seriously, a complete joke.

Great in the dry, **** in the wet.

Have had 452s on previous BMW's and they're great for the money.

I had Rainsport 2's on my Fabia VRS and found them a good tyre for the money in both wet and dry and lasted pretty well too. I'll certainly be considering them when the tyres need replacing on the Octy.

Can't knock Kumhos as they are very grippy in dry and wet especially as I have pushed them to the limit in the wet. Only thing I've heard is they are a little soft so wear a bit quick. Very quiet tyre though. I'm pleased with them. 225/45x17.

What is this too much tread? It probably explains why they are so good in the wet and why I like them so much.

In the past I've tried different tyres to compare and see how good they are. This time I bought I bought the same thing to replace a pair of warn ones.

They were quite cheap too, only £131 a pair delivered from Camskill. :D Obviously they are for my Furby, not for an Octy.
