Didn't buy a vrs.......

Featured Replies

Well,it went down to the wire between my two favoured choices,a diesel vrs estate or a Saab 93 aero ttid but I couldn't find an immaculate vrs in my price range and instead bought a lovely 93 aero sportwagon....

Hope everyone forgives me,but the Saab is a cracker.....the ttid twin turbo engine but with factory hirsch upgrade to 210 bhp together with bigger hirsch brakes(as per the insignia vxr) and hirsch updated suspension, twin exhaust and 3 spoke 19" alloys.

Transmission is the 6 speed auto with paddleshift.

Finally it has factory rear tints and a hirsch rear spoiler.

I'll still have a vrs someday, probably when the Saab gets a bit leggy.ill still be reading this forum tho as its one of my favourites.

Here's a few pics if I'm allowed to post them....post-59785-0-48597400-1349469345_thumb.jpgpost-59785-0-34459500-1349469381_thumb.jpgpost-59785-0-05794500-1349469759_thumb.jpg

Looks lovely. Saabs don't really do it for me generally but that one looks great.

That looks brilliant! I love the wheels! Maybe needs a pair of spacers on the rear but I love it! Saab's are one of my other favorite cars. I was sad to see them go to be honest, I don't think GM looked after them well enough for a premium brand.

I hope you enjoy it very much!

Car looks superb and the wheels do set it off nicely. Good choice. Hope it puts a grin on your face!

Looks nice. Personally I have a real dislike of three spoke alloys so I'm never gonna be a fan of those but the rest of the car looks ace ;)

Very nice, lovely car and interior , I like the wheels too, easy to clean, you can get your hand in to clean them all

Thanks chaps.....and,yes,you can get your sponge in to clean the alloys!.....very useful if you have ocd about car cleaning.

Would have preferred a black or charcoal interior but its comfortable to be in,very soothing....

Shame I can't transplant a Octavia vrs steering wheel tho, love that wheel!

Nice car - big Saab fan. Owned a classic 900 turbo ages ago and a 95 v4 (1972)

Look after the brakes if they are the same as the insignia vxr.... £500 each per disk

Cracking car that. I think you made a good choice there. I personally like the light interior and leather as it look classy, much better thank everything black. Love SAAB myself and was also sad to see them go. Had a SAAB 9000 Carlsson at the start of the 90's, amazing car, would have eaten a VRS for breakfast !

Always fancied a Carlson or a viggen......torque steer heaven!

On a skoda related matter,Ive also bought a nice set of dog pods for the car, made by a Swedish company, they are crash tested and also a direct fit into a Octavia vrs which will be useful in three years time.....

Ohhhh i love this!!!!!

Real shame SAAB bit the dust. They produced some cracking motors.

Nearly bought one when I sold the Fabia VRS but bailed at the time still happy with my Octy though. Health to drive you big traitor! :bandit:

I like SAAB's, and miss my old 900 classic.

Very nice cars to drive, looks great!

Indeed, I hope the OP has no problems getting spares in the future since the cars are no longer manufactured. Servicing should be no problem, since its basically a Vauxhall underneath, the big headache and major issue will be body panels which are no longer being produced.

The majority of the car is different from vauxhall actually. I would go to a trusted independant garage rather than vauxhall TBH i have heard nothing but horror stories about them. There is a company i believe who are stockpilling spare parts so hopefully you should be ok. I love SAAB;s personally, my dad had 3 of them and i would have considerd one if they hadnt gone tits up. Enjoy.

Very nice motor you've got there. Such a shame that they no longer exist as a company.

Ran a 900S for a while as a company car, the local dealership always took pity on me when it was in for a service and I usually had a Turbo 900 as a loan car. Very nice car but the S non-Turbo was underpowered for it's weight.

Enjoy it.

Saab parts have taken over production of Saab spares plus quite a bit which was originally handled by Saab uk including sales and a official warranty so hopefully ill be alright for a few years.

Glad you like the the car,thanks....anyway,off for a ride, though these roof bars are a bit vocal, ill put some aero ones on my Christmas list!

Is that a set of twin electrics poking out from under the rear bumper?

A caravan owner with 210bhp and 19's!?

  • Author

Yep,tho I've had them hidden away better now,as I didn't like them sticking out....

And yes,we do have a caravan....it sits pretty low on the 19" but rides surprisingly well!

It was a condition of my having the Saab, that it would tow our tin shed...

good luck with your new car, i take it you have aa/rac cover in place seeing that rover on the drive

  • Author

Cheeky monkey...it's a mg zr you bounder,not a rover!

1 prev owner, full mg service history 40k and pretty much immaculate!

Mind you I'm selling it to buy a small dog van with four cages to help keep the Saab nice and clean...

I'm sure that isn't a skoda either tho and I'm going to get banned soon...better include a vrs quick!

Nice choice, I'm a Saab fan as well. Make the best seats in the business IMO too, so comfortable.

Such a shame GM ran the brand into the ground, what a waste. Hope they're back in some form again in the future. They're too good a brand to just let die.

I can see why you picked it. You're fine to post info and pics of non-Skodas too, it's all good - just maybe not in the Octy2 section ;)
