vRS - standard wheels - tyre advice for a trip to the 'Ring please

Featured Replies

Hi Guys,

Got my vRS now, chipped it within a day, and in June i am off to the Nurburgring to cane it round.

It has standard tyres on the rear and some 'kleber' things on the front. I fancy getting a matching set of 4 of something that will be good for the 'ring, but not wear down on the way there!

I am standard rims and don't want to change. But the standard tyres are 205/50 - can i go any wider without any rubbing at all? (day to day it is a heavily used town vehicle)

Any advice welcome. I am thinking P Zero Nero, 225/45?

John (TaviaRS) Where are you

If he dosent post here Pm him, hes done thousands of miles round the ring, I believe most in a Octy RS

Goodyear Eagle F1s GS-D3. Had these on my 200bhp GTI and they were savage for grip.

I had over 300hp through the front wheels of my Volvo and ran GSD3's and they are very good indeed. I did a post to see if there are better tyres to be had and i think the P zero's were better but expensive !?!?

Have a look at 215/45 R17s. Much more common size, so more choice and cheaper prices. Speedometer will read 1.8% less.

Not "The" Papercup from VDSM surely???

black circles are doing a few deals at the moment, the link i have at home hopefully,or go through pistonheads.
