pressure wash the precious seats!

Featured Replies

Juts wondering if anyone has tried doing this, obviously not at point blank range, hot soapy the seats, rinse off with the pressure washer, leave to drip dry.

I really don't have the patience to remove the covers completely

It will ruin the seats, deffo water mark them and if you have side airbags would be a really bad idea.

I paid £65 for one of these...

With a bit if time and patience....

It's a must in every Fabia vRS owner I reckon

Looks like a nice job Jars! Could you send me a link for one please? :)

theres really good wet vacs you can rent from b&q and homebase. if seen a few use them and its really good. but for 65 quid thatsl looks a bargain what jars has and you will have it for ever.

Definitely don't use a pressure washer, wet vac or similar will be best.

jars what is that and where from?

The machinehas brought Jars seats up lovely, having seen

the state of them before and now they have been cleaned it's like night and day. :)

I searched for ages as they're like £120 normally but keep an eye on Ebay (I saved the search put on an alert when a new one went up)

It's a Vax 6121 multi-purpose cleaner.

The pictures honestly don't do it justice. As Garry will testify my seat were god awful before, although didn't actually realise how bad until I looked at the 2nd to last picture above!

Joe: that's why I thought at the time... Although plans are afoot and may not need it soon....!

Don't know the model, but on my little one (data on profile), I have a very active (not so little ) ,11 year old Cairn. As another member on here will acknoledge, a Cairn(any terrier hat is) is not known for being one to worry about keping clean. Regularly, I have to take out rear squabs and all I do is to hose them down. Once water runs clean,I hang them on washing line to dry. If it rains- it's a bonus. I hose with clean water ,hang and I've got new seats. If my seats are Cairn proof, then forget all the cleaning. A cold spray is all that's neded .

There is a guide floating around somewhere showing how I remove the covers thus allowing a machine wash.... Too much of a ball ache after a few reads to get my head round it!

Just checked eBay and there's a Vax 6121 for £55 or best offer.... git!!

What solution do you use? I have a huge bottle of leftover Rugdoctor stuff, that should work shouldn't it!?

I managed to borrow a Vax wet and dry vacuum thing, hopefully I will give it a try over the week end. Perhaps the pressure washer isn't such a good idea.

Dan

My seats are ****e, no cleaner and scrubbing will not clean them,,, I need the above

Does the morrisons rug doctor come with an extension ie the small tube based nozzle thing?

Just the Vax carpet cleaner solution... I got it from place called trago mills but is twice the price in normal shops.... About £10 for a 2 litre bottle iirc

I avoided the rug dr as saw a few horror stories but I'm sure they're ok really?!?

Bloody nightmare Fabia VRS seats!

I use Autoglym interior car shampoo and it works ok, but a more sophisticated solution looks like a good idea, albeit another thing to store!

My valeter mate got them up as new again before.

I've just got one too... Made an offer of £50 (plus p&p)

Stripped my passenger one properly and this is the result dyju3ujy.jpg

Compared to drivers I'm well chuffed.

Other side shot.

See my thread over on the project thread. I used a Bissel with their solution and it pulled a lot out. But there are still faint grey stains on the cream /grey trim. Not infallible but a lot easier than messing with hog clips!

Well, the vax i borrowed turned out to be a load of $hit, so against all advice i got the pressure wash out, scrubbed it with a small brush and soap first, then rinsed off with the pressure washer, its not a powerful one anyway, but it got most of the mess out. Left it to dry in the sun, it was steaming nicely, now its next to the radiator for the night.

Fingers crossed!
