Too good to be true?

Featured Replies

Look at the sellers feed back 10 feedbacks 3 bad not good sign

They are a valid car dealership selling cars on ebay, the good ones are classified adverts and as such do not have any feedback on them when sold, only auction items have feedback. The Fabia is a classified auction, so when sold the buyer will not be able to leave feedback.

Saying that the postcode appears to be a residential street.

the fact they haven't even cleaned the outside of the car to sell it shows you that if it is a "write off" "cat d" that you can probs tell how bad it is in the flesh. but 5k for a cat d car is a rip off. i bet its not even 58k on clock. thats probs been clocked aswell. These car are very easy to clock.

Cat D

Cat C

Cat X

All have to be advertised as such otherwise u are breaking the law

"The worry is that many buyers may not understand what Category D means, and therefore what they are buying. Before putting any vehicle on sale, a dealer should take “all reasonable steps” to check its history, including whether it has been written off or accident-damaged, says the Office of Fair Trading (OFT). This includes conducting a vehicle history check and asking the seller to declare any damage."

Only if they know it is a Category D

Only if they know it is a Category D

As quoted further up it is the dealers responsiblilty to check the vehicle history (including write off/ miliage etc).. BEFORE they put the vehicle up for sale

I think the "bargains" are usually killed off by people thinking they're getting a bargain, when by the time it's bid up, chances are it isn't compared with what else might be out there if you wait.

Remember that if a car price seems too good to be true, it's often just a ruise from a trader to try get you to buy one of their many other cars (obviously at a higher price etc) - and they probably never had the advertised car in the first place.

  • 5 weeks later...

i text the seller about this car (as it's back on eBay) and he responded saying that he did the work himself and it was driver's wing damage.

from the other thread, assuming it's the same SE then its passenger side damage to the door, wing, a piller, wheel and possibly brakes/suspension.

Be warned.

You'd think he would have cleaned the dam car before advertising it, thats off putting as it is let alone the history.

mucky car means hiding more things, probs the fact its got a shabby bodge of a paint job :/

The OP bought my vRS in the end :)
