Skoda vrs accessories...what to buy.

Featured Replies

Wanting to get something new for my VRS. But I don't know what.

it's a toss up between

. Fron & Rear Wind deflectors

. Bonnet Bra

. Headlight protectors

. Rally Style rear mud flaps

Help me choose please.

Bonnet bras damage the paintwork over time

I like the wind deflectors on mine , also think mudflaps are worthwhile

Save up for the lowering springs!

I've only seen the 20mm at £180? not worth it imo.

Check out my thread and change your mind!

Agreed get the springs. :)

Another vote for springs :)

Nearly winter,

have you got Rubber Mats to protect the carpets & all ready for winter, ?

good wiper blades & Winter Wash screen wash etc.

Cold weather tyres might be a good idea on a vRS, if you drive much in cold weather.

I would leave the suspension till spring, and the suspension does not need to be lower to get upgraded suspension for handling. IMO

(It does need to be if its for looks obviously)

Oil.

Ho Ho Hoo!

Out of the 4 listed I'd go for wind deflectors (unless you like rain all over the door cards :giggle: ) and mud flaps, don't know about rally ones though?!

+1 on the springs

That's not an accessory - it's a necessity.

Infact *touch wood* my oil has been fine. :p

Springs make a dramatic difference to the handling

not 20mm no way.

Have a look at the thread I posted and look at the difference in the springs. It's huge! Height isn't everything.

When driving in the rain I prefer to have the windows closed.

You do know they aren't just shorter , they have a different rate as well

I'm a bit of a funny one when driving, I like my feet to be hot but to have a breeze going through the car, hence the rain all over my door cards.

+1 Springs

So I got a big parcel from Superskoda which had me a little excited (too old to be massively excited).

1. New Monte Carlo top grille piece. http://www.superskoda.com/Skoda/FABIA-II/Fabia-II-Facelift-MONTE-CARLO-grille-upper-part-OEM-Skoda That went on, but I'm probably the only person who has managed to break the top piece - won't be using that again! For others' reference, make sure you undo the screw in the middle (the one I didn't realise was there until too late). It should all come off easily after that. Happy with the look, though, so no dramas on the old broken piece. I'm not going to bother with the lower grille surround, as I have the chrome headlights, and the existing piece matches them well enough. Besides, I've already left some of my DNA in the form of blood on the car.

2. (v)RS rear sill/scuff plates. http://www.superskoda.com/Skoda/FABIA-II/Fabia-II-original-RS-rear-door-sills-by-Skoda-Autoas No sign of the supposed template, but I manoeuvred them around until I was happy with the fit (for reference, line the forward end of the sill plate with the seam where the two plastic moulded parts are fitted together on the inside of the door frame. Again, very happy with the look. I assume they are OEM as they are a match for the front ones. Now I don't have to wince when my five year old daughter plants sandy shoes on the sill...

3. I saved the best till last. :giggle: The 20 piece aluminium look interior kit. http://www.superskoda.com/fabia-ii/interior/skoda-fabia-ii-20pcs-interior-dashboard-kit-alu-look I've been of the opinion that the Fabia lacks a little on the interior, a few more aluminium or silver bits wouldn't go astray. This looked like just the thing. Even if I didn't use all the pieces, I figured a couple would do the trick. I figured...

Now I've bought some disappointing crap via the Internet, but this wins hands down. What I imagined was a sort of brushed aluminium look sticker (maybe even a thin piece of actual metal with an adhesive backing) was a collection of pieces of clear vinyl over a silver-ish backing.

54 Euros! I'd have been disappointed to have paid 5 Euros. My first instinct (the right one) was to just throw it all straight in the bin, but I tried a couple of pieces for the sake of it. Yep, looked like **** and didn't even fit 100%. At least the carbon fibre-y stickers I had in my Focus stayed on for a fortnight before I got sufficiently annoyed by the less than stellar fit; they at least looked OK. Not these things.

DO NOT BUY!

Oh no! i thought you would realize from the pics that those silver stickies are really cheap looking. Basically they are exactly the same material used for creating promotional drink mats - the top bit is an elastic resin, as you said, on top a silver mat finish vinyl. Extremely overpriced but that is the case with most Superskoda parts.

Anyways if you like doing something to the interior what I've found is that painting the handles and air vent frames is enough to "brighten" up the interior.

Will update with Another spot to paint aswell :

The speedo-cluster-plastic-surround-thingy!

Looks awesome when matched with the car :-D!

My latest cosmetic mods...

1.Dash Mat.

Some people think they look ugly, but if you want your dash to survive more than a couple of Australian summers, they're just about a necessity. Keeps it cooler inside as well, because the dash was holding a fair bit of heat prior to installing this. You can get a black version as well, but the interior is dark enough already for me to go down that route. In case anyone's wondering, it has a flap cut into it to allow the passenger side airbag to deploy properly.

2. Rear scuff plates.

A good match for the fronts. I believe they're genuine, but not 100% certain. Available from Superskoda, and presumably other places as well.

3. Monte Upper Grille

A great improvement, as this now matches the mirror scalps, and the whole front looks more aggressive. The contrast with the white also helps "make" the look. Yes, I know I still have the chrome bottom surround, but I'm not about to change the headlights - not worth it to me for the cosmetic change - and they match the remaining chrome.

For comparison, the chrome version...
