Briskoda Winter Track Day?

Featured Replies

Is this track day taking place at Cadwell?

I am interested in having a go in the Fabia and would like to know if I should just go to a track day or should I book a novice track day first?

I have even bought a new helmet!

I've spent the last 9 years doing track days all over the country on a bike but have only done one car track day at Donington national which suited me because I've hundreds of laps around Donny on a bike so know it rather well.

Donny is easy to learn but hard to master and has a bit of everything to suit a car.

I must say I have no idea why anyone would want to do a TD at Cadwell with its tight technical lay out which is too hard to learn for a first timer to track days.

Oulton is a grown up version of Cadwell so interests me more and Rockingham would interest me and run weekend dates AND, it's the safest circuit in the country where as Oulton is the other end of the scale ;-)

ANYWAY, I'm up for doing one so I'll keep an eye on this thread and see what happens :-)

I am going to go and watch on 15th December at Oulton Park, to see who and what type of car/person goes to a track day!

Is it necessary to change the brake pads for up rated ones? or just take it easyish?

Well I am now fully booked onto the Cadwell day on 2nd December. Only 10 places left now, and the price is still reasonable (£99 at time of writing this).

Would be good to have some other Skoda's there, seems to be a good mix of other cars too. I can't wait!

Also booked on to Cadwell now. Time to check out lodgings in the area (will travel there on the saturday)

Yessss, good man Jason! I will be staying in Kings Lynn at a mates, but am up for cruising up with you.

I'm now staying at Grantham travelodge - booked in just now.

No need I've done a few on standard brakes, only doing a flush after.

For info, apex trackdays have an open pitlane day at Castle Combe on 8th December for £129

Would have been tempted by that, had I not booked into Cadwell. I do a session at Combe twice a year anyway, but would be fun to do a full day. :)

Cadwell Park showing as full now for 2nd December

But only 3 drivers currently for Blyton Park near Gainsborough on 9th December..........£99

Great mix of cars, really looking forward to it, lets hope we get some good weather too. No garages at Cadwell to park in!

Better pack some thermals! It's going to be chilly!!

Sorry I can't be there Gents.

Have the inlaws coming to visit tomorrow plus a trip to the football with them on Saturday;

so the suggestion of bogging off after the match to come to Cadwell went down like a fart in a space suit.

make sure there are plenty of vids ;)

Aye, I am hoping the track will be dry. Forecast for saturday is a little bit of damp/snow! Hopefully the track will not be dangerous/icy, as I see a lot of areas are quite within tree sheltered parts. I've packed my track wheels though. ;)

Javelin were good when i did the day at Oulton last December.

Over night was a really hard frost and they delayed the start of the day until it had defrosted sufficiently and reduced the lunch break to make the time up.

I'm wondering if I should switch back to the 17's for this weekend, the toyo's are much softer than the bridgestones on my 16's. Not really had chance to test how the 16's are on the limit either, Cadwell isn't really the best place to find out!

I will be filming all day Cliff, so I will have some footage for sure. Modified the camera mount to stop the wobble too, so hopefully that works!

My DR400 will be recording all the sessions. Just need to ensure I copy everything to my netbook before I leave Cadwell as chances are the journey home will use up some of the earlier footage.

I've got my track wheels in the car, and hopefully should all work out fine. I can see it will be fun trying to build some heat into the slicks....

Went to Cadwell today to watch my Bro in a supercharged MX5 and bumped into a couple of fellow Briskodians, must say quite envious of both cars for different reasons..

Good but very cold and slippery day would've loved to have taken mine round but that will have to wait until next year now...

Link to pics on my Photobucket account, PM me if you want any of the full res versions emailing?

Cheers,

Steve

Good to meet you Steve, I had an awesome day at Cadwell. Definitely my favourite UK circuit now, and will go to many more there.

Cheers for the pictures too, some great ones in there! I have a video following your brothers MX5, and will upload the video once I have edited it, including my rather sideways moment :D

<p>Good to meet you both, and yeah Cadwell is awesome I've done it on two three and four wheels and its been a blast on all, I'll let him know there is a video of him in the Mazda. His other car is a 650bhp Skyline GTR but he doesn't do track days in that,a bit too much of a handful for Cadwell especially in those conditions...The next time you come up I'll either bring my VRS or use my track car MX5 especially if i have it supercharged by then.;-)
