It has but I'm too busy to get into all that with Audi.

I won't be using them for servicing/repairs etc in any case,

just too expensive on the labour.

I'd rather cement my relationship with my indy by giving

him the work, as you said it's not a bad price for the work

and it's only really the 4 tyres that bulk up the price.

To be fair, I knew I'd need at least 2 tyres when the car

was due for MOT back when I bought it. I've no qualms about paying

for the repair work. It's just one of those things, I also didn't

get my ar$e in gear and get the remaining warranty transferred

over in time either.

  • Well I hope you lot are satisfied, I've just been outside in the rain to get these for you all. For contrast I've re posted the front view already on here to show the differences easier. Before, wi

Fair enough, just seemed a shame to be spending "17 Large" as one rather amusing video put it on the car then spending out for springs within 6 months.

I mean, while it's not enough for a decent Yeti you could have still got one with a bit of warranty left. ;)

That video was class. :)

Touche... :)

Surely at that price for two OE rear springs, you could go for a complete set of Eibachs instead?

Or am I missing something?

  • Author

Kind of Steve yes... The car has a bit of natural reverse rake

so Eibach only do front springs which drop the nose by 20mm

to make it less pronounced.

The rears already sit quite high up in the arch on the OE springs

compared to the front.

I will be investing in a pair down the line but for now got to do the

vital stuff. Don't want to go too low, roads are bad around here

and at the mo the ride comfort is very good all things considered.

Coilies are definitely out of the running but the Eibachs are on the

to do list.

Ah I see, thanks for that - didn't know there would be a problem!

Ah well, at least it's money well spent and you know it's sorted then. I'm sure you'll survive with *just* standard power for a bit longer :D

Everythings done, I'm pleased to announce it's no longer sporting brushed

alu mirrors :) Luckily, no breakages occurred when swapping the mirror caps

over. Collecting her on Monday morning.

Great result :D

Can't wait to see the pics of the new mirrors and grille :)

That looks evil I love it. :) what's the plan for the wheels?

Kinda minds me of darth vader

Looking good Gary.

You going to leave the wheels alone?

  • Author

No, they are going in for a colour change when I get the chance.

Don't need a refurb as such, they are in 98% perfect condition.

Just a couple of minor scuffs. Would be nice to have them 100%

Found a place local with a 3 day turnaround and they keep your vehicle there

indoors under lock and key while they are being done for no extra charge.

Most likely anthracite or similar. Maybe shadow chrome if I'm feeling brave.

LOL Funny you should say that....

Just what I would have done to it - perfect.

Again, long overdue and only crappy phone pictures but here's my Inforad

speed camera warning device which I mentioned earlier in the thread.

Absolutely perfect place for it, easy to see and hear there and the instrument binnacle

cowling provides enough shade in bright conditions to see the LEDs.

No problems with picking up GPS there??

None at all, it's bang on.

It does find the satellite quicker if I don't move away before

it's found it, but once it has it doesn't falter.

I can't stand anything non OEM in my car lol apart from me of course lol does look like a pretty cool gismo tho :) and a good place for it at that!

Minor update, finally got around to fitting the Passat heated fan washer jets.

As it turned out it took 3 minutes, didn't require any tools at all and all the wiring

was already there so the old ones were heated as well, billy bonus.

Even the water pipes had funky little clips to make swapping them really easy.

May still need to adjust the angle, but I've just washed and dried the car so

I'll wait till its dirty again before I fine tune the angle.

Glad to see the back of the triple pin jet ones, especially as one on the drivers side

was blocked so I had 3 jets on the left and just 2 on the right. That really bothered me

and I couldn't unblock it at all.

  • 3 months later...

sorry to bump this up mate. my dad has an a3 and the same thing has happened with the jets. any links to the passat ones used please as we are struggling to find some.

love the toning down of the s3 exactly how i want to do things dont need to shout 'look at me' everywhere you go

I've been for a delve through my ebay purchase history (I bought them nearly a year ago)

and the seller no longer has any of them. I managed to find some non heated ones

on ebay but they were more expensive than the heated ones I bought which were

£20 for the pair, if yours aren't heated (no electrical connection on them) then

these should do it but I can't take responsibility if they don't fit your car.

They do look identical shape and size wise but don't look to have the electrical

connections but they do have the fan style jets and the adjustment screw for angle.

I got mine for a bargain price at £20 for a brand new pair heated ones,

if price isn't a concern and you need the heated type then I believe this

is what you are after. But they arent cheap...
