Anything I should look out for new VRS tomorrow !

Featured Replies

Hi,

I pick up my new Octavia Vrs from the dealer tomorrow and I just wondered if there is anything I should double check with them and also with the car?

The only things I can think of so far are a good look over the body work and wheels plus interior and double check they have the car on fixed servicing.

Thanks for any help.

make sure it has all the options you ordered ;) Sounds silly but it has been know for cars to arrive minus something you have requested.

Make sure everything is set up as you asked too, if you've asked for cornering fog lights make sure they're done - mine weren't, as you say check your servicing is set up as asked - mine wasn't, if you've asked for chirp on locking make sure it's done etc.

Check the blocks are out the suspension.

Locking bolts fitted?

Interior clean and tidy.

Spare wheel if ordered

Check body work in good light, check rubbers for overspray (lots of new cars are damaged in transit)

Make sure everything works.

Sorry to hijack the OP's thread...

Where do you stand if it has been damaged and repaired? Personally I wouldn't want anything other than perfection from a brand new car.

This is the number one thing I am going to be checking the BODY WORK will not be best pleased if it has been damaged. I am going to go over it very carefully and will move the car out into the open if they have parked it somewhere I cant get a good look at it.

Can you tell me what is the locking bolts?

I have only ordered maxidot, rear parking sensors and a spare wheel, so will be checking to see everything is in order.

I had a few drops of glue on my dash which had dried on. I used to work at a Toyota dealership and I must say quality control is nowhere near a Toyota.

Alloy wheel locking bolts. I didn't notice for a a few days that one of my wheels only had 4 bolts in.

Argued with the dealer but they claimed it had been nicked.

I have that on my check list but thanks for letting me know, will make sure all the bolts are there including the locking nuts.

Someone else in another post mentioned getting there wheel arch covers on the front put on the wrong way round but did not notice this until they had full lock on, so will check this as well.

My god going to have a bigger check list than the dealer. LOL

 probably

Just take your time. You're giving the dealer £15-20k they can go to hell if they think they can shoo you off the forecourt before you're happy.

I wont be in any hurry I can assure you and nothing will be signed until I am happy with the car.

This is a big purchase and I bet it it was them, they would not be in a hurry either.

One of the rear seat bolsters wasn't properly fitted when I collected mine, so definitely would recommend a thorough check of interior fitment, as well as checking everything seems to work.

Sarge.

For Christ sake don't let them wash it.

Not unless you like a sponge filled with glass, grit and stones used on your nice new paintwork.

Swirltastic..

I almost rugby tackled the valetter when I picked mine up.

Stopped him just in time. :whew:

Collect it covered in gunge and detail it yourself when you get home.

At least you know your paintwork will be ok.

Check that the owners manual is in the glovebox and that the PDI (Pre-Delivery Inspection) has been stamped.

You'll want the V5 too!

I know what you mean, ruff is an understatement with some of them.

I will be checking the seats and I will make sure the back seats are working fine and fitted properly.

Hi,

I was already told by the dealer it would be about 2 weeks before I get the V5 document but thanks for reminding me of this.

I have a mate who works for a place who used to repair many of the VAG cars which had been damaged on the boat, in transit, etc. you'd be surprised how busy they are.

There was one that literally fell off the back of a lorry - smashed the dash and everything........
