Protecting new leather steering wheel

Featured Replies

I've just got a brand new leather steering wheel (not perforated) and wondered if it is worth protecting it with anything prior to fitting and using it?

What do people use to protect (not clean - I've seen a couple of threads on that subject) their leather specifically on steering wheels where grip needs to be maintained?

Thanks.

Nothing at all, modern leather is coated so conditioners etc will tend to sit on them and not fully absorb, this in turn makes them go dirty quicker.

Just clean the oils off (from your hands) regularly with a decent leather wipe (Dr. Leather for me) every month or so.

I'm not convinced that it is leather on the steering wheel. It feels more `man-made` to me.
