petrol VRS tyre pressures

Featured Replies

Hi,

I have just got my vrs and I wondered what the correct tyre pressures would be, I have 225x40x18 tyres on the car.

Thanks for any help.

I am mostly on my own but take the kids with me sometimes, I take it you find the tyre wear ok at the slightly higher pressure in the middle of the tyre?

I do see the pressure at 2.0 bar but some people are using higher and I am just trying to see what the average seems to be.

I run 33PSI all round, putting the rears upto 36PSI with rear passengers and luggage.

+1.

I run my fronts slightly higher at 34psi after knackering a tyre on a bad pothole a while ago.

I run 33-34psi all round.

I have decided to go with 32 psi all round and even when I spoke to out local skoda dealer he even mentioned they usually go with 32 psi all round.

My back 34psi but mines a taxi

32psi all-round

Read http://www.carbibles.com/tyre_bible.html and make up your own mind. What the manufacturer or dealer recommends may not be your best choice but the main point is that it is your choice.

yep works fine for me, i'm very anal about servicing and checks though lol... like stupidly daft

Everyweek is tyre & Pressure, oil and screenwash checks, washed everyweek too (yes i am sad)

I was at a petrol station yesterday and the guy at the air pump was inflating all the tyres on his Astra to 50psi!!! Surely no cars require it to be that high? Does anyone know why he'd be doing that???

Because his heads full of broken bottles??

Maybe he had hot tyres and lived around the corner. Then he can wait at leisure at home for them to cool down and adjust the pressures rather than have to go out to the garage again?

I wondered whether he had read the max pressure on the tyre wall thinking that's what they need inflating to.

I have only had mine since Tuesday but I am going to check the oil and water levels every week as well, including regular checks of the tyre pressures.

Just washed the car earlier but you are only really keeping the worst off as it will not stop raining and a few trip to work and your hard work is undone.
